Hello all,

Firstly I would like to thank every one for their time in helping us newbies solve our computer woes, your help is greatly appreciated.

Now to the point....I seem to keep having random BSOD'S on windows startup showing a Kernal_Security_Check_Failure and in event viewer it is showing as Bug_Check_Code 313, I have no idea what is causing this.

I also seem to be randomly getting BSOD'S while either exiting/starting a game or loading up Unity (Game engine).

As stated in the instructions above I have used the SF_Diagnostic_Tool and have attached the contents to this post.

If anyone could chime in and help me out I would be most grateful. :D

Regards

Hi
Supermunkey ,

The problem you are facing is due to a C++ object got corrupted, you might be getting a BSOD's KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE error code 0x00000139. to resolve this error i would suggest you to install the drivers again and install latest updates for your windows.

However I am not showing any error code 139's in the event viewer, can you tell if their is a specific driver causing this?

Convert 313 from Dec to Hex and you get 139. Dunno why they're stored this way in Event Viewer, but that's how they show up.

SSD's were temperamental when they first came out, but their reliability has improved greatly over the last year or two. There are 2 things that MUST be checked on systems with BSOD's and SSD's:
1) That the SSD firmware is the latest available for the SSD
2) That the storage controller drivers on the motherboard are the most recent. They must date from late 2012 or later. This is ALL controllers, not just the one that the SSD is attached to.

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).
Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): [DEL] DuplexSecure - FAQ [/DEL] Link broken as of 21 Jul 2012
New link (15 Aug 2012): DuplexSecure - Downloads (pick the appropriate version for your system and select "Un-install" when you run it).

MSI Afterburner (along with Riva Tuner and EVGA Precision) are known to cause BSOD's in some Windows systems (it's driver is usually RTCore64.sys). Please un-install it immediately!

If you're overclocking, please stop the overclock while we're troubleshooting. Feel free to resume the overclock once the system has been stabilized.

Both BSOD's blame your copperhd.sys driver - it's a component of your Razer mouse. Earlier versions (yours is from 2009) were known to cause BSOD's on Windows systems. These MUST BE UPDATED to Win8 compatible versions - or you must remove the software and the device from your system.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Ah ok, can you tell if something specific is causing this? This was a fresh install of windows only 7 days back.

Having the copperhd.sys driver still on the comuputer may/may not be a problem.
What it depends on is if the driver is loading with Windows. We may be able to see that if the system BSOD's again.

Realtek driver: Realtek

2011 BIOS may/may not be a problem. Win8 relies on communicating with the BIOS - much more than previous OS's We'll just have to keep an eye on it.

Now we wait and see if any more BSOD's happen.............

Well regarding the copperhd.sys and the LG drivers I have actually removed them from Windows/System32/Drivers manually and they no longer appear in the Driver List grab.

I have also installed the Realtek driver from the link you have provided (Thanks for that).

I will hope for the best and if I BSOD again I will be sure to come back here and update you ;).

Thank you for your assistance.

Be careful removing drivers from the C:\Windows\System32\drivers folder. This can make the system unbootable if you do this with a driver that's needed during the boot. Listed below is a safe way to remove these drivers (it has a method of recovery should the system not boot).

1) Create a Restore Point using System Restore
2) Create a Repair disc:
Win7 - Go to Start...All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc
Win8 - Press "WIN" and "R" to open the Run dialog...type "RECDISC" (without the quotes) and press ENTER
3) Test the System Repair disc to make sure that you can get to the System Restore entry when you boot from the disk (you may also want to try actually using System Restore to make sure that it works)
4) Download this free program (Autoruns for Windows) and use it to disable any instances of copperhd.sys that are starting (or any other Razer entries) (DO NOT DELETE - only disable by removing the checkmark in the left hand column)
5) Check in Device Manager (to include showing hidden devices from the View menu item) and ensure that any instances of copperhd.sys (or any other Razer entries) are "Uninstalled" (DO NOT DISABLE THESE).
6) Check in the Services applet (services.msc) to be sure any instances of copperhd.sys or any other Razer entries are disabled.
7) Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers and rename the copperhd.sys driver to copperhd.BAD (search the hard drive for it if it's not in C:\Windows\System32\drivers).

In the event that the system doesn't boot:

1) Boot from the System Repair disc and use the Command Prompt option to rename copperhd.BAD to copperhd.sys
Code:
ren C:\Windows\System32\drivers\copperhd.BAD C:\Windows\System32\drivers\copperhd.sys
2) Boot from the System Repair disc and use the System Restore option to restore the system to a point before the changes were made.

Good luck!

Hey all, just wondering if I could get Usasma's attention or perhaps someone that can analyse BSOD'S. Everything has been working fine for months since the last set of BSOD'S and as it turned out they were being caused by my Razer Copperhead drivers. After removing this and successfully using my machine for a couple of weeks with no BSOD'S (I was getting multiple BSOD'S every day prior) I slowly started reinstalling software that I was told to remove e.g Daemon Tools and everything was fine for a few months, no BSOD'S what so ever.

Unfortunately I have been experiencing BSOD'S again. Copperhead.sys which was the main culprit of the last set of BSOD'S should not be the issue as I am using a different mouse now all together.

I do have an overclock running and I can confirm that running Prime95 for 24 hours revealed no errors what so ever in regards to the CPU overclock, everything else in my system is running at stock settings.

I was wondering if you could have a look and analyse my crash dump and perhaps give me an idea of what has been causing these most recent BSOD'S, they seem to be happening the most while I am playing the Battlefield 4 Open Beta.

As it's been a while since the last BSOD episode, I've treated this as a brand new problem. Please excuse me if I repeat things as I didn't review the previous posts.

If you're overclocking, please stop the overclock while we're troubleshooting. Feel free to resume the overclock once the system has been stabilized.

Your BIOS dates from 2011. Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any BIOS updates available for your system. Also check the readme file to see if they apply to the problems that you are having. Please be advised that flashing the BIOS is a very unforgiving process - and one mistake can physically damage your motherboard.

You have 4 hard drives. What is the make/model/wattage and age of your Power Supply?
I seem to recall that we discussed the PSU previously and that it was OK. I'd still ask you to test it using the PSU test included in OCCT (free here: Home )

These devices are disabled. Is this deliberate? If so, why?
If we discussed this earlier, my advice then still holds
I have noticed some issues that may/may not be related to Virtual Box in Win8
VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter ROOT\NET\0001 This device is disabled.
High Definition Audio Bus PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_AAA0&SUBSYS_AAA0174B&REV_00\4&5581F2C&0&0138 This device is disabled.
In short - enable it, update it, then feel free to disable it again.

Lot's of Live Kernel Events in the WER section of MSINFO32.nfo
Please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog))
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

Alternate link: Disc-Tools.com
Manual procedure here: Registry and SPTD problems | DAEMON Pro Help

Remove Gigabyte EasySaver - it's driver (gdrv.sys) is known to cause BSOD's.
If installed, also remove EasyTune (ET6) as it causes BSOD's also

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

I apologize for not being able to reply to this post any sooner, I have not been able to use the offending computer as I have been away from home due to work.

My power supply is a Thermaltake Toughpower 1200W Power supply, this was purchased around 2007 and yes you are correct we tested the PSU previously, as instructed I have tested the PSU using OCCT and I had no issues while running the test for 1 hour.

I disabled VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter as it was interfering with Splinter Cell Blacklists multiplayer match making, disabling this virtual adapter allowed to me play in online multiplayer matches. I have enabled this device and updated the drivers through device manager.

I am unsure as to why the High Definition Audio Bus is disabled, in the device manager I have two, one is disabled and the other is enabled. *edit a fleeting thought, could this be due to me having two AMD graphics cards in crossfire? They both have HDMI ports. Upon enabling the disabled High Definition Audio Bus a little yellow triangle appears within the icon and this error is given when said item is double click

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

{Operation Failed}
The requested operation was unsuccessful.

I have now uninstalled daemon tools and ran the tool you provided, I was only prompted to install sptd.sys as no SPTD version was detected.

Regarding Gigabyte EasySaver, I do not have this piece of software installed the only piece of software relating to gigabyte that I have installed is Gigabyte's Cloud OC server, I have uninstalled this piece of software but gdrv.sys is still showing on the driver list, I have located the gdrv.sys file in the c:\windows\ DIR but have left it untouched for now awaiting your instructions.

I have trawled through and can not find any evidence of EasyTune.

The version of CoreTemp I was using was just a stand alone .exe this did not require installation, I had a look through the driver list that SF diagnostics grabs and could not find ALSysIO64.sys on the list, I did however delete the version I was using and downloaded the latest version from the link you provided which was an actual installation.

Regarding LGBusEnum.sys and LGVirHid.sys, the 2009 versions are the latest drivers available for my Logitech G15 keyboard I believe they are responsible for the small LCD screen and the macro memory banks, do you want me to uninstall these functions and just use it as a normal keyboard?

As requested I have attached Admin.evtx, along with the latest SF Diagnostics grab after making these changes.

I await your response, again many thanks Usasma you are a true gent.

Sorry for not responding sooner - but the Win8.1 install has hosed my system several times!
I'm also updating my website w/8.1 info - so that takes another huge chunk of my time.

I notice lot's of problems (warnings not errors) with "A pointer device did not report its physical size."
I'd suspect keyboard or mouse software - and would suggest uninstalling any such software from your system.
If the warnings continue, then I'd try another keyboard or mouse.

Most of the Live Kernel Events relate to SQL stuff.
If still having problems we can delve into that (and some possible fixes)

I don't see any memory dumps in the uploaded reports - so I'd suggest waiting to see if the BSOD's recur.
