Random blue screens since setup new computer

Last month I bought and setup my new computer and installed windows 8 on it. Shortly afterwards I started getting BSODs randomly.

When I turn on driver verifier it instantly crashes once the login screen shows up.

I have tried removing every no essential from the computer leaving only a keyboard, mouse, main hdd, internal gpu, and 1 stick of ram and still had the blue screens show up.

Was wondering if maybe you see something that I have missed that could be causing these.

Driver Verifier is supposed to crash the system. Hopefully it caught the memory dumps so we can see what's causing it.

SSD's were temperamental when they first came out, but their reliability has improved greatly over the last year or two. There are 2 things that MUST be checked on systems with BSOD's and SSD's:
1) That the SSD firmware is the latest available for the SSD
2) That the storage controller drivers on the motherboard are the most recent. They must date from late 2012 or later. This is ALL controllers, not just the one that the SSD is attached to.

You have 5 hard drives, what is the make/model/wattage and age of your Power Supply?

Out of 20 memory dumps there were 8 different BSOD error codes. The differing error codes are usually symptomatic of a lower level problem within the system. They are usually caused by one of these things:
- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)
- overclocking - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers)
- low-level driver problems
- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from Initial Hardware Diagnostics or Hardware Diagnostics ).

You can get a head start on the hardware diagnostics if you'd like - they are located here: Hardware Diagnostics

The Driver Verifier memory dumps blame variable64.sys - a component of the Intel Desktop Utilities. Please uninstall them.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

I have been checking every couple of days for latest ssd firmware but there has not been any new drivers.

PSU is Seasonic Platinum 660w.

I ran housecall last night found nothing. Ran HD tests on all the drives no issues reported. Only thing overclocked is the memory set to the XMP profile that the memory sticks are sold at. At the base 50mhz OC the GPU came with.

Furmark completed no issues GPU maxed at 70C with only 66% fan usage. Ran Prime95 for 10 hours no issues cpu hovered around 60C.

I have uninstalled Intel Desktop Utilities and the other drivers appear to be the latest available so I will work on removing them.

Well just had another one. Attached is the minidump folder with the additional bsod.

There are 4 extras which were HID related but were before I was able to fully remove the logitech drivers.

These 2 drivers are involved in the latest crash:
vmswitch.sys
e1d63x64.sys

As the crash is in the networking sub-system, I'd have to wonder about the virtual machine software. I have had lot's of networking problems using Hyper-V (so many that I gave up using it).

I'd suggest removing the virtual machine software (temporarily) in order to see if that fixes the problems. Feel free to reinstall it once the system is stabilized.

Update your networking drivers also. If you already have the most recent version, then:
- download a fresh copy of the latest, Win8 compatible networking drivers
- uninstall the current networking drivers from your system
- install the freshly downloaded drivers
- monitor for further BSOD's

If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics. Let us know the results and we can move on from there.

I removed hyper-v from the system and uninstalled and then re-installed the latest networking drivers. The latest bsod was after both of those were completed.

I have run all the hardware test listed there and nothing showed errors. Ill run the memtest again tonight and let it run for another 24 hours.

I'm starting to run out of ideas here.

I did note that the wireless USB XBox controller driver (xusb22.sys) dates from July of 2012 - before Win8 was released.
The previous version (xusb21.sys) had known BSOD issues, so I suggest uninstalling the software (temporarily) and physically removing the device from the system until it's stabilized.

Please disconnect 3 or 4 of the hard drives and see if that makes a difference in the frequency of the BSOD's
Disconnect the power from each HDD and remove the cables from the mobo (in case there's a bad cable).
Observe static precautions while working inside the case (unplug the power from the wall and make sure that you're properly grounded when messing around inside the case). This'll help determine if the PSU isn't putting out enough power for all devices.

As a last resort, run Driver Verifier again - and let it crash the system 3 or more times before gathering the memory dumps.

Other than a crash earlier this weekend my system has been running well without the extra HDDs and the GPU but last night I needed them so I reconnected them again. And when I got back from work today there was another BSOD. Driver verifer has been running since the weekend also with no crashes related to it.

After my crashes over the weekend my SSD was not recognized by my motherboard until I re-seated it. Not sure what the cause of that would be but I have a support ticket in with intel to look into that issue.

I will unplug 2 of the extra drives I do not need continually and see if my system lasts longer.

Attached is the zip of the dumps including the most recent one.

I suspect the GPU since the last BSOD blames video drivers - but it's just as likely (IMO) that there's an issue with a hard drive or the mobo.

I would go back to the time when the system ran well without the extra HDDs and the GPU - than add 1 thing back in and test, then another and test, etc, etc, etc

Keep a list of what you've added. Sometimes it helps with the troubleshooting.
Good luck!

Well after several days of no blue screens and only plugging my webcam back in I had 2 BSODs this morning. After the second one my SSD was not seen by the motherboard and my computer ran memtest for 9 hours. (No errors still)

I was able to get the system to see the drive my flipping the switch on the psu to off for 30s or so and then back on. When it booted up the bios saw the drive.

I think there may be something wrong with the SSD or the motherboard Ill pursue more with Intel about that issue. If you see anything in the latest BSODs that point elsewhere let me know.

Based on the series of problems, the common denominator in all of them seems to be the mobo.

Although these memory dumps "feel" like hardware to me, please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions to help rule out low-level driver issues: Driver Verifier Settings

Well re-installed windows this weekend to fix some issues. (Windows update was acting up, power options were missing, and the sfc scans were failing to complete). Worked well over the weekend but have had two more bsod since the re-install with only installing the latest versions of the important drivers.

I'm going to turn on driver verifier tonight again to see if it pops any drivers out but i don't expect it to.

Seeing as I re-installed I may have missed updating a driver but I believe I got them all.

Attached is the latest bsod since re-installing. Let me know if you want any of the other info again.

A clean install of Windows and you're still having BSOD's - another indicator that this is probably a hardware problem.

The last 2 memory dumps are different BSOD error codes and blame different components in the system - another symptom of hardware issues.

Have you run these free diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics
I still suspect the mobo, but it's possible that there are other issues.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Well had two more that blamed tcpip.sys, so i am guessing motherboard/onboard network card is the most likely culprit so I will talk to Intel support to get it fixed/replaced.

Yes I have run the diagnostics and nothing has popped out as abnormal.

The one driver that is listed as out of date is the latest available that I saw but I will do more digging and will deal with it. Though the rate of blue screens have not changed since I installed it.

One of these (the latest) is a Verifier Enabled memory dump which blames a Windows drivers.
Since it doesn't blame a 3rd party driver, we presume it's either hardware or Windows

As this is a fresh install of Windows, we presume that the Windows files are good.
Therefore it must be a hardware problem.

To rule out the NIC on the mobo, try disabling it in the BIOS. You might want to get a cheap network card (they're about $15 US at most major retailers) to test with. It's a good idea to have a spare NIC on hand in case one dies in the middle of the night.

Please be sure to turn Verifier off by opening it (verifier.exe) and selecting "Delete existing settings", then clicking on the "Finish" button - and reboot for the changes to take effect.
