Hey,

I build myself a new machine with Windowns 8 and keep getting random BSOD on average once or twice a day.

Attached is the crash dump file, would really appreciate it if someone could tell me where the problem is.

Thanks!

    Antivirus
    Windows Defender and Windows Firewall
    Other Info
    I'm handsome and a snappy dresser :0)
Most of the BSOD's point to AVG - but I suspect it's a conflict between the AVG and Comodo thats' actually the issue here. Please uninstall both, then enable Windows Defender and the Windows Firewall in order to test. I'm not certain if you've uninstalled AVG or not - but it's not present in the last memory dump(s). Also, Comodo has (in the past) been known to cause BSOD's - so the request to remove it is still valid.

Riva Tuner (along with MSI Afterburner and EVGA Precision) are known to cause BSOD's in some Windows systems (it's driver is usually RTCore64.sys). Please un-install it immediately!

If you're overclocking, please stop the overclock while we're troubleshooting. Feel free to resume the overclock once the system has been stabilized.

Please uninstall these programs:
- Gigabyte Easy Boost - as it dates from 2008 and is likely to not be Win8 compatible
- Gigabyte Easy Saver - it is a known BSOD cause in some Windows systems
- Gigabyte Easy Tune 6 (ET6) - it is a known BSOD cause in some Windows systems

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Thanks a lot for the info, I already uninstalled AVG and all the Gigabyte programs since I read in some other threads that they can cause BSOD's.

I will follow the rest of your suggestions tonight and post back if this solves the problem.

It seems stable so far, I will mark it as solved and make a new topic if I get more BSOD's. Thanks again for the help! +rep ;)

    Windows 8
Unfortunatly still getting bsod's :( I updated the bios on my motherboard, and uninstalled Comodo. I also got rid of the Logitech Gaming software since I couldn't find any updated drivers.

Attached is a new crash report, would be really great if I can get some indication of what might still be causing it. I'm debating wether or not to do a complete reinstall of Windows.

I'm starting to suspect a hardware problem is to blame for this.

1) Please remove the wireless USB XBox controller software (and the device itself) to test if it's to blame. Previous versions had a history of BSOD's, so it's possible that this one inherited the same glitch that's just now being exposed. If it doesn't fix things, feel free to reinstall it.

2) Please see the "Usual Causes" section at this link: BSOD Index
Usual causes: Insufficient disk space, Device driver, Video card, BIOS, Breakpoint with no debugger attached, Hardware incompatibility, Faulty system service, Memory, 3rd party remote control,
Please run these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics
You can alse run Driver Verifier to see if you can force a BSOD that identifies a particular driver: Driver Verifier Settings (I think this is less likely than the hardware problem).

3) Reinstalling Windows is sometimes a good tool to troubleshoot. Should you decide to do this, please try it this way: Canned Speeches - Clean Install I'd wait to do this until after the hardware diagnostics are finished.
