PC doesn't boot up after a new system update is installed

I had purchased Windows 8 in the first month of its release and since then I haven't encountered a single error.

But off late, I'm experiencing serious trouble.

Whenever a Windows automatic update is installed, after shutting down the laptop when it's booted again I get a message on a blue screen saying that the PC has encountered an error and needs to restart. It also shows an error code like 0xc000021a or something similar. I don't remember the code exactly. While that message is displayed, a percentage meter goes to 100 and the PC is automatically rebooted.

Then it tries to diagnose and repair but fails and says that the PC could not be repaired and a certain log file is saved at a a certain location.

Then the only thing which saves me is going to the Advanced Options within that recovery mode and restoring a system point.

This is very annoying. Today is the second time this error has come up within 4 days. Never encountered this issue before.

Can someone please help me on this.

    Win8.1Pro - Finally!!!

Sorry for the delay in responding. There just aren't that many people who do BSOD analysis, so at times we get a bit overwhelmed!
    I'm currently:
    - rebuilding the network at my wife's office and installing new software with a rep from the software company on-site
    - working at a PC repair shop
    - doing yard work (the lawn is growing very fast)
    - babysitting my new grandson (3 weeks old)
This doesn't leave much time for online pursuits, but I do keep up with each topic that I respond to.
I only come online in the morning (USA Eastern Time) - so that's when I respond.

Please provide this information so we can provide a complete analysis: Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions

    For starters:
At work we start all repairs with a set of diagnostics. Often they find problems that weren't even expected. It's a waste of time to try to fix software on a system that has hardware problems.
Please try these free diagnostics for starters: Initial Hardware Diagnostics
Also, please ensure that you have ALL available Windows Updates (it may take several trips to get them all).
