error code: 0xc000000f

1) My windows 8 imploded on me, it went from an automatic repair loop to constantly asking for repair and restarting itself. Sadly, none of the tools they provide have any effect, and this laptop is only a few weeks old. I booted ubuntu to try to get a file (literally one note document that I forgot to backup, and my exams are in a few days! Great timing ^ ^), the problem is I can only see some of the files under "Windows 8 OS", I already have hidden items being shown, and tried CTRL+H. Other posts have said to CTRL+L host or /media/user, but neither of these work.

I am using Ubuntu through the usb for now, after following this tutorial http://lifehacker.com/5504531/the-co...-a-thumb-drive - I have version 12.10 ubuntu

2) After getting my file back, I am going to "reset" (which should wipe all data and reboot windows 8) windows 8, hopefully that will actually do something. If anyone has any ideas as to how I can fix windows 8 from Ubuntu or any way you can think of, please share!

Some of the things I already tried: a) Refresh (with a Win 8 DVD inside, all of the following were performed with a win 8 DVD inside); b) Commandprompt lots of commands, bcdboot commands; c) system restore; d) boot in safe mode; e) boot in legacy mode; f) automatic repair

I have not tried any of the methods that would wipe memory (not like I know how to either), I am trying to get my files back, and I am cramming with pen and paper > >.

Thank you!

NTSTATUS 0xC000000F is
STATUS_NO_SUCH_FILE
It means that the system couldn't find a file by that name.
Could be that the file doesn't exist (was erased), that the path to the file is incorrect, or that the drive has been erased or is broken

It's seems to me that you've done all the necessary steps to copy the file(s) - so you should have been able to get them.
If that's the case, then it's likely that the files are destroyed/missing/overwritten.

STOP messing with the disk if the files MUST be recovered! Any operations (to include booting up) can make recovery of the files much more difficult/expensive - or even make them unrecoverable.

The first step is to decide how desperate you are to recovery these files
.
Here are some recovery utilities - they are Windows based, so you'd have to use a Windows based boot disk to access the hard drive (read the documentation with each program to see how they work from a Windows based boot disk.
There are free recovery utilities (such as PC Inspector - kostenlose Software fr die Datenrettung von CONVAR - Die Datenretter. ) - a very good utility, but very difficult to use
There are pay for utilities (I like GetDataBack from Data Recovery - Data Recovery Software - RAID Recovery - NAS Data Recovery). It'll tell you what files that it can recover - but you'll have to pay $80 US in order to recovery them.

If you still can't recover the data, consider using a professional data recovery service (I can't recommend one as I haven't used any of them). The price for this usually starts around $250 (US) - and can go as high as $2000 (from what I've seen)

After you've attempted the data recovery, then try this free Hard Drive diagnostic (to see if the hard drive is dead/dying): Hard Drive Diagnostic Procedure

Post back with your results so we can move on to other suggestions.

ahhhhhh... thanks so much for the knowledgeable reply. Sad I've only had this laptop for almost a month now. This is definitely stuff I have never done with a computer before, but I am going to start with PC inspector. Wish me good luck ^ ^.

Good luck! Don't be surprised if you can't get what you need from PCInspector. I found it very difficult to use.
I finally gave up on it when I found that GetDataBack said that it could recover the files that I needed - so I gladly paid the $80 US in order to get me stuff back!
