    Random crashes

    Hello there, everyone.
I've been having some pretty random crashes with my Windows 8 installation the last 2 days and the only thing that changed was that now I connect my PC is connected directly to WAN (I have some issues with my router). Not that I think that this problem is related to it (that would be just reeeally strange).

I guess, it must be some kind of problem with the graphic card, because usually (when a crash happens) I do get to see the BSOD, but now it just goes all crazy with random squares all over the screen..

In the last two days I had like 5 or 6 of these crashes and only one BSOD (visually, I mean).

As to "when" does it happen.. Well. Anytime. I can have my PC running all night and have no problems at all or crash while opening a folder

I would really appreciate some help

    Win8.1Pro - Finally!!!

Your BIOS dates from 2010. Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any BIOS updates available for your system. Also check the readme file to see if they apply to the problems that you are having. Please be advised that flashing the BIOS is a very unforgiving process - and one mistake can physically damage your motherboard.

    These devices have problems:
Mass Storage Controller PCI\VEN_1217&DEV_8130&SUBSYS_02EB1028&REV_01\4&1C5DEFC8&0&02E3 The drivers for this device are not installed.
Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network) BTH\MS_BTHPAN\8&3C26D13&0&2 This device is disabled.
The first is likely to be your O2Micro Integrated MS/MSPRO/xD Controller (Memory Card Reader). Please install the latest, Win8 compatible drivers for it.

Also, your Bluetooth is disabled. Is this deliberate? If so, why?

Please remove Connectify in order to test it. I've seen issues with later versions and don't know if they've been ironed out yet.

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).
Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): [S] DuplexSecure - FAQ [/S] Link broken as of 21 Jul 2012
New link (15 Aug 2012): DuplexSecure - Downloads (pick the appropriate version for your system and select "Un-install" when you run it).
    Alternate link: Disc-Tools.com
Manual procedure here: Registry and SPTD problems | DAEMON Pro Help
MSI Afterburner (along with Riva Tuner and EVGA Precision) are known to cause BSOD's in some Windows systems (it's driver is usually RTCore64.sys). Please un-install it immediately!

If you're overclocking, please stop the overclock while we're troubleshooting. Feel free to resume the overclock once the system has been stabilized.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

The Mass Storage Controller - is the O2Micro Integrated MS/MSPRO/xD Controller strange thing, though, I do _not_ have a MS/MSPRO/xD slot (I do have an SD one and it works without any problems)

I have no idea of how to delete this driver.

If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics. Let us know the results and we can move on from there.
If I get another BSOD - I'll run the Hardware Diagnostics.

Also, maybe I should switch to the stock driver for my video card? Or you think that the problem is with something else?

    UPD:

So far, everything is running smoothly ... I guess, I'll start installing back the software to figure out what causes the BSODs

    Win8.1Pro - Finally!!!

Just a bit of general discussion.

The mass storage controller can be built into your motherboard - and they just didn't put the slots for the cards in the case
But please also consider that these descriptions are done by me (and 2 others) searching the web for the best description of the device. It may well be that this is the storage controller for your SD card. It's probably using Windows drivers - but I'd still update it to the latest, Win8 drivers available for it "just in case"

It's not only sptd.sys that causes issues with Daemon Tools - especially in the newer versions. We still see lot's of problems due to it - so we suggest removing it and selecting another program to serve that purpose.

In most cases I don't consider a BSOD "fixed" until at least 2 weeks without one.
I'll start to agree that it might be "fixed" after only a week tho' - but I've seen them come back even later on.

Adding stuff back is necessary - but the more slowly that you do it, the more likely you are to be able to catch problems with what you install. It's best to keep track of the order that you do things in - in case it's not just one thing that's causing the BSOD's. That's why I include so much info with my posts - so we can keep track of what's been done (although I do still forget on occasion).

Deleting Rt630x64.sys will cause your wired network connection to stop working - please don't do that!
Leave it be for now - we'll deal with updating it later on (if needs be).
You have a Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller (the wired network connection) and the drivers for this are here: Realtek
Select the "Win8 Auto Installation Program (SID:1568648)"

Found the latest driver that I could for it (even though it was a Win 7 x64), but I don't think there should be any compatibility issues.

Yep, updated that with the Win8 drivers

Yea... I kinda just understood that. Had a BSOD in the morning and another with all of the "cubic" stuff all over the screen some time ago

I'm uploading another log... but I guess it's time to test the actual hardware?

I've got another harddrive with Win 7 on it that I can swap with the one on my notebook. What if I try using it for some time to filter out the hardware possibility?

Thank you for the help you are providing, I really appreciate it

    Win8.1Pro - Finally!!!

Here's my spiel about differing BSOD error codes:
Out of 5 memory dumps there were 5 different BSOD error codes in the first set of memory dumps - and 3 out of 8 in the last 2 days worth. The differing error codes are usually symptomatic of a lower level problem within the system. They are usually caused by one of these things:
    - borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
    - BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)
    - overclocking - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
    - compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers)
    - low-level driver problems
    - or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from Initial Hardware Diagnostics or Hardware Diagnostics ).
What I'm trying to have you do is remove all known problem stuff first. This is mostly driver related, but does include some hardware things (such as the BIOS and overclocking). You can get a head start on the hardware testing by running these free diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics

5 of the 8 memory dumps were STOP 0x1A - so I'd start with the Memory Diagnostic ( Memory Diagnostics) and then with the video diagnostics at the main diagnostics page that I linked to above ( Hardware Diagnostics )

Logitech camera driver (LVUSBS64.sys) dating from 2007 is still on the system. Please do this to remove it safely:
    1) Create a Restore Point using System Restore
    2) Create a Repair disc:
Win8 - Press "WIN" and "R" to open the Run dialog...type "RECDISC" (without the quotes) and press ENTER
    3) Test the System Repair disc to make sure that you can get to the System Restore entry when you boot from the disk (you may also want to try actually using System Restore to make sure that it works)
    4) Download this free program (Autoruns for Windows) and use it to disable any instances of LVUSBS64.sys that are starting (or any other Logitech camera entries) (DO NOT DELETE - only disabled by removing the checkmark in the left hand column)
    5) Check in Device Manager (to include showing hidden devices from the View menu item) and ensure that any instances of LVUSBS64.sys (or any other Logitech camera entries) are "Uninstalled" (DO NOT DISABLE THESE).
    6) Check in the Services applet (services.msc) to be sure any instances of LVUSBS64.sys or any other Logitech camera entries are disabled.
    7) Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers and rename the LVUSBS64.sys driver to LVUSBS64.BAD

In the event that the system doesn't boot:

    1) Boot from the System Repair disc and use the Command Prompt option to rename LVUSBS64.BAD to LVUSBS64.sys
    2) Boot from the System Repair disc and use the System Restore option to restore the system to a point before the changes were made.

    Good luck!
Be careful looking at the following info - it's a compilation over a period of time (so some drivers listed may no longer be present on the system).

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :
