Hello Everyone,

I don't know what to do anymore. I bought a new Sony Vaio with SSD.
It came with win 7. Already then I got blue screens + Instant shutdowns, where the screen just turns dark and the whole thing just switches off within a second. Since then I changed to win8 and same problem. I have a lot of Event Error logs. I have no Idea what might be the cause?

I would appreciate any kind of help tremendously, I am at the end with this, Kind blessings Andreas

These are the Main Errors I get:

Application: backgroundTaskHost.exe

Nope, not real helpful. I did find that you've had a STOP 0xD1 and a STOP 0xA error - and that generating the minidumps failed in both cases.
What happened when you tried to run the data collection app from my previous post?

If there's a hardware problem (which is likely since you had BSOD's with Win7), start with these free diagnostics: Initial Hardware Diagnostics Continue with these diagnostics if all of the previous tests pass: Additional Hardware Diagnostics

If you're able to go to C:\Windows, locate the MEMORY.dmp file and rename it to MEMORY-01.dmp
Then each time the system crashes, find the MEMORY.dmp file and rename it to the next number.
This is only so that the system will save these reports from us (otherwise each new BSOD will overwrite MEMORY.dmp - destroying the previous MEMORY.dmp file).

Then zip up the latest .dmp file and upload it to a free file-hosting service
Post a link to it here so that we can download it.

While waiting for a response, please run Driver Verifier according to these directions: Driver Verifier Settings

Hy,

Just had a immediate shutdown, without blue screen.
My laptops ventilator is always very laud, before it crashes, might there be overheat?
There was no memory dump produced.

I would appreciate any sort of help, Kind blessings

Do you have any guesses what hardware it might be? I have SSD.

These are the events leading before the shutdown:

How long does it take before the computer crashes (both when it's cold and when you restart it)?
If the fan speeds up before the crash, overheating is likely.

1) Blow out the vents on the laptop using canned air (DO NOT use a vacuum cleaner or an air compressor as that may damage components inside the case).
2) Only use a laptop on a hard surface (so that cool outside air can get at all the vents). Using it on your lap or on a bed with a comforter can cause overheating.
3) Use a laptop cooling pad to force extra, cooler air into the vents.

Use this free tool to measure temperatures: HWiNFO, HWiNFO32 & HWiNFO64 - Hardware Information and Analysis Tools

I cannot make anything out of the info that you've provided as the XML format isn't very readable. Please run the reports that I've asked for. They will contain the event viewer reports (in a readable format) and a lot more: http://www.eightforums.com/bsod-cra...e-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html

Please also provide this report:
- open Event Viewer (eventvwr.msc)
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).
