BSOD on Compaq 8710W laptop

I have had BSOD a few times lately.
Today, I wrote down message: Watchdog Violation
I do NOT have an SSD on my laptop.
I am using a 32GB SD card for ReadyBoost, though.
When computer crashed, I was running Outlook, Firefox and Evernote.
I have AVG free antivirus.

I would really appreciate help in diagnosing this problem

AVG has been contributing to the crashes, please uninstall it and enable Windows Defender on the system:

AVG | Download tools and utilities
Install the latest Windows Defender definition updates - Get the latest definitions - Microsoft Malware Protection Center

Run the system file checker to check windows for corruption:

I recently switched to AVG after using Avast. I had read that Defender wasn't as good.
I'll report back when the other steps are complete.

Results:
CHKDSK- Windows has scanned the file system and found no problems.
No further action is required.

SFC- Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

Okay.
My computer froze this time. Just like the BSOD, I wasn't actively doing anything to the computer. I walked up to it and it was unresponsive.
I am not sure how to report the errors, though. I have opened the Event Viewer and see several events during that timeframe.

I apologize if I am reporting this wrong:

11:21AM The operating system started at system time ‎2013‎-‎04‎-‎14T15:21:14.497044300Z.
10:56AM The description for Event ID 5010 from source netwlv64 cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN

The specified resource type cannot be found in the image file

That event (intel wireless wifi) occurred 20 times at 10:56AM

The laptop is just under four years old.

Heat:

Only use the laptop on a hard surface with nothing blocking any of the vents.

Use a laptop cooling pad if possible.

Blow out all vents with canned air (DO NOT use a vacuum cleaner or an air compressor, they can damage the components).

Ensure that the fan comes on and is blowing air out of the vent (may not happen at startup, but should happen after using it for a while).

Are you saying my crash was caused by overheating?
My laptop was sitting on my kitchen counter and I wasn't even doing anything actively at the time.
But, I did have programs running. (Firefox, Quicken, Adobe Reader, Turbotax, OneNote)
I opened up the laptop about a month ago and completely blew it clean. I'll do it again if it needs it.

Hi oooooooooold

Can you confirm if your problem was caused by heat or not? Any other clues?

I am having a similar problem while transferring large files over my LAN after upgrading to a faster wireless router. I know this alone shouldn't cause my laptop to crash but it is. I am starting to suspect my 4965agn NIC.

On 5Ghz net I get crash with DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION
On 2.4Ghz net I get DISPLAY DRIVER STOPPED RESPONDING AND HAS RECOVERED.

Next step is to try a USB wireless key to see if the problems continue.
