DPC_Watchdog_Violation while gaming (Simcity)

Normally I don't game so there is little reason to use my optimus GPU. However since last week I started playing SimCity and have noticed sound stuttering/breaking/robotic-tones and graphics freezes. I found that audiogd.exe was running around 5% cpu which I found abnormal so I killed it from task manager and that solved the audio issues and some of the freezing temporarily but I eventually turned to another laptop for the gaming. Today I tried to troubleshoot the problem again by removing all audio enhancements but to no avail. Then I tried making the resampler option in the audio enhancements for Realtek ALC665 to resample audio at a smalled bitrate (this trick solved the stuttering/broken audio I was getting in online video content in chrome since I installed the latest Nvidia drivers) but to no avail. The game still ran poorly with Audio Video issues And the it all crashed with DPC_Watchdog_Violation BSOD.

I googled around and found that I could force the same BSOD or check for driver errors by using "verifier" application in windows. After running that for all drivers that aren't by MS, I found that "uxpatch.sys" was causing a different BSOD. I booted into safe mode and uninstalled the experimental release of UxStyle that I had installed to use custom themes but wasn't really using since I prefer the native feel of Win 8 now.

Now on reboot verifier didn't give any BSOD. But the game still runs with all the previous problem. I may be even able to replicate the BSOD if I continue to play.

I hope all this info was useful. Dump from Windows7_Vista_jcgriff2 is attached herewith too.

Thank you you reading through. I hope that you guys can solve the issue or at least point me in the right direction.

Best Regards,
D.A.

The first thing to do is to turn Driver Verifier off. To do this, open up verifier.exe and select "Delete existing settings". Click on "Finish" and reboot the system for the changes to take effect.

Next, please provide this info:
Please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (eventvwr.msc)
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

For starters you can try a clean boot to see if that fixes things: How to perform a clean boot to troubleshoot a problem in Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista
If the clean boot stops the problem, then do the following:
- start all the services and reboot. Test to see if the problem comes back.
- if the problem does come back, try ½ the services to see which it is - and run it down by ½'s until you find it.
- if the problem doesn't come back, then try ½ of the startups to see which it is - and run it down by ½'s until you find it.
