BSOD in Windows8 at frequent times (ntoskrnl.exe)

    Hello techy folks,

I have been experiencing frequent BSODs in Windows 7. Did clean installation twice/thrice but got BSODs whatsoever. Therefore, I decided to install Windows 8 thinking that the problem would solve. It did! But now BSODs occur after around every 4 hours (as compared to Win 7 occurring twice in an hour).

I used blue screen viewer to find out what driver was causing the issue and similar to that in Win7, it's ntoskrnl.exe however, description of BSODs now differ. In Win7, BSODs used to occur with 'MEMORY_MANAGEMENT' but in Win8, 'PEN_LIST CORRUPT' and 'MEMORY_MANAGEMENT' occured twice to thrice times respectively in two days.

I've attached necessary files created using SF_Diagnostic tool .

One more thing, I'd installed SIW to find out specs and detailed drivers on my computer. I've attached what I found interesting as a screenshot.

Please help me! It's getting on my nerves since it's the first time this 'BSOD' thing has bothered me.

BSOD's pointed to memory corruption from various processes (Utorrent.exe, ntoskrnl.exe, MsMpEng.exe...). You might have a bad memory stick. Download Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool and burn it to CD/USB then run the memory diagnostic, It is important to let it run over night. I've helped someone in this forum, he did not run long enough and the diagnostic may pass the first few rounds and finally we found out that was indeed he had a bad memory stick.

    Good luck !!!

I ran memtest86+ 4.20 ver last night and today morning found thousands of errors on pass#2.
I can't really check RAMs from the slots because I bought this laptop 3 weeks ago and opening its casing would void the warranty (i think).
P.S: N56VM has a single case structure on its bottom unlike slots for hardware components.

@ishaan - not actually. They usually occur after 4-5 hours of continuous work on a laptop. Since blue screen viewer shows its ntoskrnl.exe, its somehow related to memory. So, errors with memtest do point towards something.

@ishaan - It can happen anytime if program/process get loaded into the bad area of the memory.

Since you just bought it 3wks ago, you should bring it back and get an exchange.

Memtest86+ sometimes takes a few rounds to find the problem. Each test is different, the first test is sequentially, next is random etc... with different patterns

    Good luck !!!
