I see a lot of examples of this error message being posted, and it seems they are all after the install, once the system has been up and running.
I'm getting it during my install process, so I can't blame other software or even drivers. I have a new build that will install Windows 7 perfectly fine. Only the motherboard and HSF are new, all the rest are known working parts. Windows 7's install completed, accepted software installs, ran benchmarks, etc.
I tried installing Windows 8 from three sources that are known to work. A real upgrade disc from Microsoft, a downloaded .iso from TechNet that works fine, and a USB flash drive made from the same .iso image. All three sources have been used on other systems. Each time, I can format the drive in DISKPART, and get through the initial part of explanding files. Then, it prompts me to restart. The countdown occurs, and I get a long pause, roughly 30 seconds, and then a message that an error occurred. It says to look online for DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION, and upon restart, I'm told that errors occurred and I have to restart the install.
I'm completely at a loss for what to try here.
