Hello you wonderful people! (yes.. I am new here)
Recently, my computer crashed without a warning when i tried to wake it up from sleep mode. As there was no error messages of any kind, i was forced to do a cold boot. (The screen was just black)
After the cold boot, Windows 8 was so kind to me to not being able to boot anymore. I threw my Windows 8 disc in, and tried the optimize feature in order to keep my files at least. That worked (more or less). But as the system was VERY buggy after this (features not working, programs "Not Working" errors and BSOD's with the error message i posted in the title every time i booted the system, and every time i tried to wake the system up from sleep mode, different hardware parts like the soundcard not detected correctly by the system etc.), i decided to do a complete re-install of Windows 8. That solved most of those issues. Now all my software works, and all hardware parts are detected as they should (meaning the drivers can find the hardware and work as it is supposed to). However, i still get a BSOD with the same error message when i turn the machine on. Same thing when i try to wake the system from sleep mode.

I have been trying to look around the wonderful interwebs, and i did find people with somewhat the same issue. I tried to do some of the things they have bin suggested, but without luck. :(
Here's the things i have tried:
  • Complete re-install of Windows 8
  • Complete uninstallation of AMD drivers (followed a guide to delete EVERYTHING related to AMD/ATI)
  • Installation of old GPU drivers (the version i had when it worked)
  • Installation of the newest drivers and Windows Updates
  • Installation of the latest drivers for chipset, soundcard and network card. Drivers was found on Gigabyte's website.
Therefor, i felt i needed to ask myself to get personal help from the best.
My specs:
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z77-D3H
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570
GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 3GB
RAM: 16GB Kingston HyperX
OS: Windows 8 Pro x64

I do know my share about PC's, though, i am not too familiar with the core system of Windows. (I am more of an Android OS guy)

I fear it have something to do with the GPU as i can see it is the problem with most other people with this error.
I have attached a full collection of your SF Diagnostic Tool in the hope that can help you in helping me.

If i am missing anything, just ask. I will see if i can provide as much information as possible.
And please note, i have been running Windows 8 in quite some time without any issues what so ever until the first time it crashed when i waked it up. From there, it have been playing with my temper.

Thanks a ton for your support!

Sincerely, Vej.

Note - I think i should add, that once the system is booted up, it run's like a charm. I can load both CPU and GPU with graphics intensive games without any issues. It is ONLY on boot and wake-up.

Hi and welcome to the forum. All your mini-dumps are pointing to the driver file: EtronHub3.sys which is the Etron USB 3.0 Extensible Hub Driver: Driver Reference Table I have been unable to find an updated driver either on your motherboards manufacturers website or on the official manufacturers site. It's possible the driver is buggy so I would disable it or un-install it for testing purposes, this can be done via device manager in the control panel: How to Disable a Windows 8 Device It's also possible that other USB drivers are conflicting with it so it might be worth un-installing or updating those first before disabling this driver.

I have noticed some out of date drivers on your system that you need to update or un-install/remove if un-needed:

lvuvc64.sys, lvrs64.sys - Logitech USB Video Class Driver (WebCam Driver): Driver Reference Table
LVPr2M64.sys - Logitech QuickCam Express/Go driver: Driver Reference Table
ftdibus.sys, ftser2k.sys - FTDI USB to Serial adaptor: Driver Reference Table

Please make sure you have all the Windows updates until you can install no more if you have no done so already.

-cheers

Interesting information. That was unexpected. I'll try your suggestions, and return to you. Thanks!

Update: Uninstalling the Etron driver worked, at least for sleep mode. I haven't yet tried to boot it up yet. But as it worked for the sleep mode, i'd assume it worked otherwised as well.. It also felt like the system got a speed boost.
I will try to look out for an updated driver to the USB 3.0 Host Controller.

Thanks for your quick and effective reply. I can see now, that this is a good place to hang out in!

Sincerely, Vej.
