Two random BSOD's, getting on my nerves now.

Over the past couple of weeks I've been having problems with Windows 8, enough so that I'm tempted just to either go back to Windows 7 or to Kubuntu.

I've uploaded the two minidumps just want to know if there is anything that can be done.

Bearing in mind that the first BSOD caused my MBR to get corrupt.

If you need anymore information let me know.

If you're overclocking, please stop the overclock while we're troubleshooting. Feel free to resume the overclock once the system has been stabilized.

Your BIOS dates from 2011. Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any BIOS updates available for your system. Also check the readme file to see if they apply to the problems that you are having. Please be advised that flashing the BIOS is a very unforgiving process - and one mistake can physically damage your motherboard.

MSI Afterburner (along with Riva Tuner and EVGA Precision) are known to cause BSOD's in some Windows systems. Please uninstall it immediately!

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

I've attached what you asked for, as for the drivers and bios they are up to date, last Bios was 2011 and the Roccat drivers I installed today from the Roccat site, same goes for the audio drivers, they are at the latest.

I've taken off my OC and uninstalled MSI Afterburner.

F: drive only has about 9% free space. Windows likes 15% free space in order to perform stuff "behind the scenes" without adversely affecting the system's performance. Please free up 15% on all hard drives (you can get away with 10% on larger drives and won't notice a large performance penalty)

We've seen a number of BSOD issues with SSD's. Here's the information that I've compiled so far:
There's not a whole bunch available to test SSD's. The "easiest" test is to remove the SSD, install a platter-based hard drive, install Windows and test for stability that way.

Here's some suggestions:
- Update the SSD's firmware to the latest available version (VERY IMPORTANT!!!)
- Update the motherboard controllers drivers to the latest available version from the controller manufacturer (NOT the mobo manufacturer unless you can't find any on the controller manufacturer's website)
- Slow the memory (RAM) down to the next slower speed (I've only seen one person who claimed that this worked for them).
- Use any manufacturer's utilities that you may have. If you don't have any, then try this free one (I haven't used it myself): Crystal Dew World
- Update chipset and storage controller drivers to the latest available from the manufacturer of the device (not the manufacturer of the motherboard). Be sure to update ALL controllers on the motherboard!
....NOTE: Recently (Nov 2011) we had BSOD issues with the Marvell 91xx controller and an SSD. You may have to switch controllers also.
- Replace the SSD with a platter based hard drive and see if that stops the BSOD's. If it does, then it's likely that there's a problem with the SSD OR an incompatibility with your system.
[DEL]It's my opinion that SSD's aren't reliable enough (with current hardware) to be used on a system that needs to work reliably. Until I see reliability I will not recommend, nor will I use, SSD's for critical applications.[/DEL]
06 Dec 2011 - This post tends to confirm issues with certain SSD chipsets and certain controllers - [SOLVED] cant find the cause of BSOD F4 - Tech Support Forum
29 May 2012 - The frequency of BSOD's with SSD's seems to have been decreasing over the last several months. It may be approaching time to re-evaluate my stand on their suitability for use in production systems.
10 Nov 2012 - I'm seeing an upswing in SSD errors - but most appear due to older storage controller drivers. I strongly suggest NOT using storage controller drivers that don't date from 2012 (if none are available, don't connect an SSD to that controller)
05 Jan 2013 - very interesting post about difficulties with the Marvell controllers even when not connected to the SSD drives: https://www.eightforums.com/bsod-cr...-pc-reboots-when-waking-sleep.html#post169956
27 Feb 2013 - I'm starting to see much better reliability with SSD's using current (mid-2012 and later) storage drivers. I have withdrawn my objections to using these devices in everyday systems.

You have 3 hard drives. What is the make/model/wattage and age of your Power Supply?

The BSOD from 24 Feb indicates an I/O error in the WER section of MSINFO32. This means (IMO) that the issue is in the storage sub-system - either with the devices (hard drives), the storage controller drivers, or other hardware that may affect this subsystem (such as the PSU).

Please run these free diagnostics on ALL of the hard drives on your system (internal and external): Hard Drive Diagnostic Procedure

I'm not sure what version my Sata drivers are but I just checked and my SSD and it's the latest firmware.

I've also run SMART check, Short DST, Short Generic Test and long Generic on my HDD's and they all passed.

Long test is the most effective/reliable. I've had customers hard drives pass the Short test - and I've chased them into the parking lot when the long test failed immediately after starting it.

IMO SSD's need storage controller drivers that are dated from mid-2012 or later (in order to be reliable).

The MSI website it a bit confusing about your storage controllers. The details tab shows that you have JMicron controllers - but no drivers are installed on your system. The downloads page also shows Intel storage controller drivers - but only one is installed on your system.

Please go to JMicron here and download the latest drivers for your controller (Nov 2012): ftp://driver.jmicron.com.tw/SATA_Controller/Windows/

Please go to Intel Download Center and download the latest Rapid Storage Technology (RST) drivers. DO NOT use the Enterprise drivers!!! Start with the RAID drivers. If they won't install, then try the AHCI drivers.

Fixed the problem after Windows 8 decided to have my SSD at 100% all the time, then BSOD, then killing the install and then nearly bricking the SSD.

Secure erased the SSD and put Windows 7 back on.

The guy at OCZ said it could be because my Motherboard isn't Windows8 certified. Not to worried about having Windows 7 back on, wasn't that big of a fan of Windows 8 in the first place.

Thanks for the help anyway guys.
