I used to have this problem in windows 7 but decided to do a reinstall and had to go to widows 8. Since my reinstall I have had no problems for 3 months. Then one day it blue screened a few times. The next day it was fine. Then bluescreens again. I can be gaming or just sitting at the desktop. Sometimes it gives me 4 long beeps at startup and it takes a few restarts to get it to boot. I have run several memory test with memtest but I will do it again if that's whats recommended. I ran 10 passes each stick in each slot. Thanks in advance :D

Your BIOS dates from 2010. Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any BIOS updates available for your system. Also check the readme file to see if they apply to the problems that you are having. Please be advised that flashing the BIOS is a very unforgiving process - and one mistake can physically damage your motherboard.

Looks like this is a low-level problem, usually caused by:
- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
- BIOS problems (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)
- overclocking - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers)
- low-level driver problems
- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from Initial Hardware Diagnostics or Hardware Diagnostics ).

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

I have seen problems with this driver back in the Win8 Release Preview days:
usbfilter.sys Fri Apr 3 07:39:51 2009 (49D5F587)
AMD USB Filter Driver (likely part of the chipset drivers)
http://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=usbfilter.sys

RTKVHD64.sys Fri Aug 12 01:28:04 2011 (4E44B9E4)
Realtek High Definition Audio Function Driver
http://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=RTKVHD64.sys

Rt630x64.sys Wed Oct 19 08:12:55 2011 (4E9EBEC7)
Realtek PCI/PCIe Adapters
http://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=Rt630x64.sys

If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics. Let us know the results and we can move on from there.

Thanks for all the useful info. 2010 is the newest bios available. I updated the drivers mentioned but it didn't help. Today I go to start it and its just black screen. I pulled the video card and tried the on board graphics but no change. I was getting 4 beeps which is a bad timer according to what i could find online. I pulled one stick of ram and it sounded liked it booted but still black screen. I replaced the other stick of ram and it booted ok. no beeps or anything. I am running memtest now and so far so good (1 pass so far). I have run all those tests before and it was ok and I dont anticipate it will find anything this time. I am leaning toward trying to find a new motherboard. Any ideas? Thank you so much.

If it passes MemTest86+, then try Prime95 (it stresses the RAM more than MemTest86+): Prime95

Just FYI, should this prove to be a BIOS problem, then there's not other recourse but to revert back to Win7 or earlier.
But we don't know if it's the BIOS yet, so continue on with the testing.

Good luck!

Ok heres an update. I ran prime for 12 hours with no troubles. The highest temp was the cpu which was 61C. One thing I noticed was everytime it went into sleep mode it wouldn't come back. I would reboot and nothing just a black screen. On shutdown I noticed the keyboard was still lit up even if I unplugged the pc. I unplugged the keyoard and plugged it back in and the light went out but still couldn't boot. The only thing that would make it go was to reseat the ram. Weird. Last night I turned off all the power save settings and it is still running as of this morning. I also looked at the minidumps to see if anything new was there and there are no new files since the 13th which is when I updated my drivers. I think I am getting closer to solving this but not sure what to do next. Also, I had this problem in win7 too. The reason I put win8 in is because when I went to do a reinstall of 7 my disc was an upgrade and I lost my win xp disc so it was either buy 7 for $100 or 8 for $40.Any input is much appreciated. Thanks,Bill
