Driver Power State Failure - Windows 8 x64

Hello,

When I start up my computer I am not always able to enter windows right after I turn on the power button unless I restart it. That is strange and also new. However there are times when I am in fact able to enter Windows briefly with out doing this.

On the occasions that I am able one of two things afflicts me. Either, my storage hard drive is not booted and does not even appear in my computer which usually requires a reboot or two to rectify - or, My pc takes exceptionally long to load the desktop or some other function of the gui and then shows me the bsod with the error Driver_Power_State_Failure.

But it gets worse I have second storage hard drive which very often has what one could call hard drive failure in that it randomly dismounts, is not recognised or gives error messages. I have reached my threshold of tolerance and would like to know if you good people at windows 8 forums who have saved me before when you were still windows 7 forums can do so again.

I have attached my dump files.

Thanks in advance.

Your BIOS dates from 2008. Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any BIOS updates available for your system. Also check the readme file to see if they apply to the problems that you are having. Please be advised that flashing the BIOS is a very unforgiving process - and one mistake can physically damage your motherboard.

systeminfo.txt report isn't present. Please be sure that you have ALL available Windows Updates (most systems have between 40 and 50)

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Win7 systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions). I strongly suspect that this hold true for Win8 systems also.
Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): [DEL] DuplexSecure - FAQ [/DEL] Link broken as of 21 Jul 2012
New link (15 Aug 2012): DuplexSecure - Downloads (pick the appropriate version for your system and select "Un-install" when you run it).

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

If all of this doesn't stop the BSOD's, please run these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics. Let us know the results and we can move on from there.
