Hi all,
After upgrading to Windows 8, my formerly wonderful laptop has been causing me a lot of undue grief. It keeps crashing-- sometimes upon waking, sometimes upon shutting down, sometimes when doing nothing at all. I received the DPC_Watchdog_Violation message, but am unsure as to what this means. I've attached a zipped folder of my minidump files for your analysis. I'd truly appreciate any help you could offer-- I'm going crazy here!

Thanks,
Jo

DPC problems are usually driver problems. Check in Device Manager whether any devices are flagged.

You can also run this program. It sometimes tells you which driver is at fault.

Thanks for the reply, but I've checked my device manager and no drivers are flagged... At one point, the video card one was, but I updated it from ATI's website and the flag went away. When I run the DPC Latency Checker, the bars are mostly yellow with a few red spikes. When I disable the video card driver, the bars stay mostly yellow, but the red spikes disappear. However, I've already updated to the most recent driver available on ATI's website. I'm running a Samsung Series 7 NP700Z3A-S05 with an ATI Radeon 6490M. Do you know how else I might fix this problem?

Thanks so much.
Jo

The dump file indicated that you have problem with iastore.sys, iastor.sys is the intel matrix storage manager driver file from Intel. Please update the driver.

I also ran the Intel Driver Update Utility here: Intel® Driver Update Utility

And came up with this:

A customized computer manufacturer driver is installed on your computer. The Intel Driver Update Utility is not able to update the driver. Installing a generic Intel driver instead of the customized computer manufacturer driver may cause technical issues. Contact your computer manufacturer for the latest driver for your computer.
