BSOD Pain!

Hi All,

I have been trying, and failing, to rebuild my pc recently. I had 2 DOA ASRock mobo's, and have had to buy a new PSU all to accomodate my new GPU.

Now I am getting BSOD's fairly regularly, 2-3 a day, I think they are all BSOD, but as they regularly occur when I am not at the computer, I cant be sure they all are.

Any help anyone can offer will be much appreciated, as I am at my wits end .

Thanks in advance

A lot of your mini-dumps are pointing to a hardware problem with your RAM, but before doing any hardware diagnostic checks it could also be a driver problem.

I have noticed some drivers on your system that need to be updated or removed/un-installed if un-needed:

CSCrySec.sys - InfoWatch Encrypt Sector Library driver: Driver Reference Table (I suggest un-installing this software)

CSVirtualDiskDrv.sys
- InfoWatch Virtual Disk driver: Driver Reference Table (I suggest un-installing this software)

k11.sys, k12.sys, klmouflt.sys & klim6.sys
- These files all belong to the Kaspersky family of software most of which is out-of-date on your system. I suggest you un-install any program related to Kaspersky by using the control panel/un-install first and then downloading the Norton removal tool to remove any other trace from your system:

|MG| Norton Removal Tool 20.0.0.21 Download

Please use the built-in Windows 8 Defender for testing purposes at this time.

snapman.sys - Acronis True Image Snapshot Manager driver also included in Seagate DiscWizard: Driver Reference Table (I recommend un-installing this program and then installing the latest version if you must use it)

ASACPI.sys
- Asus ATK0110 ACPI Utility: Driver Reference Table (This is a known BSOD creator, please un-install anything related to the ASUS Utiliity Suite)

There are suggestions that you may have a virus or rogue on your system, please download Malwarebytes, TDSSKiller and Hitman Pro to your system. Scan your PC with these utilities and let them remove anything they might find:

Malwarebytes : Malwarebytes Anti-Malware removes malware including viruses, spyware, worms and trojans, plus it protects your computer
TDSSKiller Download
Home - SurfRight

If you have not already done so update your drivers to Windows 8 64bit versions from your motherboard manufacturers wesbite, this could include LAN and Audio drivers:

Please make sure you have all the latest Windows 8 updates until you can install no more.

Hi milw0rm, thanks for your reply.

OK, I have done all the suggested tasks bar uninstalling ASUS Util suite, I cant work out how to do that  As far as the scanners, turned up a few suspicious things but nothing I'd class as particularly worrying, so do I just wait and see now?

Cheers

In the latest mini-dump all the drivers I asked you to update or remove appear to be still there. Please go through each one and update, un-install or remove them, if you have done so please reboot your PC.

Since you can't find any reference to anything to the ASUS utility suite please go into the folder: c:\windows\system32\drivers and rename ASACPI.sys to ASACPI.bak and reboot your PC. Be aware the suite can contain the following programs, so if you do have them in control panel/un-install please remove them:

  • ASUS Update
  • ASUS FAN Xpert
  • ASUS MyLogo
  • ASUS PC Probe II
  • ASUS System Information

If you have done all this and are still getting BSODs it could be a hardware problem. Please follow these articles in order to run some hardware diagnostics:

Memory Diagnostics
Hard Drive Diagnostic Procedure

Hi, have looked for all the drivers you asked me to uninstall in the sys32 drivers folder, all the kaspersky ones were already gone. Infowatch ones were still there so I changed them to .bak as well as the asus utility one. No restarts for a few hours now. I am pretty sure the ram is ok as I had it chacked at a shop a few days ago, I do know I have some issues as far as hdd's though, I have a program called hdtune which as flagged up some issues
