    Random Restarts

    Hello All,

My Windows 8 PC has been doing lots of random restarts by itself. It only ever restarts when I am away from the computer and has never done while I am using. Because I am not on the computer when it does it, I have not seen many of the crashes. From the ones I have seen, the BSoD is always there but I am not sure it always appears. I have attached the log files.

    Thanks in advance,
    Isaac

Go in the devices manager , view , show hidden device and look for AODDriver item. Is there a yellow exclamation mark in front of it ?

I can't actually find AODDriver anywhere in device manager... is this a problem?

In your ZIP file DriverList.txt there are 2 versions of AODDriver4.01 and AODDriver4.2. Apparently when you updated the driver for your Video via Windows Update, it did not do a clean install and left the old driver in there and if you look in the Event log, there are a lot of errors pointing to this.

In Device Manager, Did you expand all the branches and look through the list ? Did you see anything with an exclamation mark ?

The only thing with an exclamation mark around it was 'Unknown Device'. I have attached a screenshot.Attachment 15622

    1. Download Autoruns for Windows
    2. Right click on the unknown device and uninstall it, do not reboot
    3. Run autorun and select the ''Everything'' Tab , you should see in the list autorunEntry the AODDriver line in error with no file path. delete it.
    4. Reboot

I should presumably delete the older version, 4.01, yes?

The AODDriver 4.01 is gone now but the 'Unknown Device' in the device manager is still there. Is that OK?
