    BSOD upon opening laptop lid

Hi everyone, I have had a problem for a while where my computer (ASUS K55A) will have a BSOD when I open the lid to the computer. This has happened before on Windows 7, but I am on Windows 8 now and it still occurs sometimes. It doesn't happen all the time, in fact is is quite uncommon, but when it does happen, it is right after I open the lid just before I try to log in. I figured I would post the details about the issue here in case anyone here might have any insight as to what is happening. Thanks in advance for any help. My BSOD information has been put into a zip file as requested by the posting guide.

    Welcome to EightForums.

Do you use any 3rd party antivirus app or Windows Defender?

    Perform a clean boot:

    Perform a System File Check:

Restart the system and see if that makes any changes?

I have found some drivers on your system you will need to update to Windows 8 64bit versions or un-install/remove if possible:

ASMMAP64.sys - LENOVO ATK Hotkey ATK0101 ACPI UTILITY: Driver Reference Table
atkwmiacpi64.sys - ATK WMIACPI Utility: Driver Reference Table
    ElbyCDIO.sys - CDRTools/ElbyCDIO/DVD Region Killer/VirtualCloneDrive (elby CloneDVD™2)/AnyDVD: Driver Reference Table
VClone.sys - VirtualCloneCD Driver by Elaborate Bytes AG: Driver Reference Table
Rt630x64.sys - Realtek PCI/PCIe Adapters: Driver Reference Table
iaStor.sys - Intel Storage drivers: Driver Reference Table
IntcDAud.sys - Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD Driver: Driver Reference Table

You can update some of those drivers from your motherboards manufacturers website. You should update your VGA/Intel Graphics Driver, Utilities/ATKACPI driver and hotkey-related utilities (uninstall the old version first), LAN/Realtek LAN Driver, Others/Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver and anything else you think should be updated:

ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download K55A

ElbyCDIO and VirtualCloneCD have been known to cause BSODs in some systems so you might consider un-installing those programs for testing purposes.

Please make sure you have installed all the latest Windows 8 updates if you have not done so already.

I have Lenovo drivers? Interesting, I only get my drivers from the ASUS website or Windows Update. I think I may just live with the problem, it doesn't happen often enough for it to be a huge deal. Uninstalling the drivers and utilities might undermine the work I had to do in order to get small little things like the function keys to work properly in Windows 8. I appreciate you guys looking at it for me though, hope I didn't waste you guys time. Thanks

I'm not 100% sure but I think the version of Utilities/ATKACPI driver and hotkey-related utilities are windows 7 versions and could be why you had a hard time getting the function keys to work for controlling things like wireless/bluetooth, volume and brightness etc... the updated windows 8 version on the manufacturers site might fix this for you. If you're "ok" with the BSOD's now and again though then it's fine.

The asmmap64.sys driver can also be the part of the ATK Generic Function Service although it is listed as Levono on the site mentioned.

    Good Luck!!

I have a small update. I did the sfc /scannow and it corrected some corrupted files, so that may help me out if that was contributing to my problem. Also, I didn't know I had the Windows 7 ATKACPI drivers still installed. I will look into that and update you guys if I get another blue screen
