DPC_WATCHDOG_VILOATION - constant BSODs

Hi there,

I've been getting CONSTANT BSODs over the past few days. I did a system restore after the first day and it seemed to clear up the problem for a day but now they are back in full force.

I'm led to believe it is a problem with my hard disk because it seems to mostly happen when I'm writing data to the disk (downloading files, etc.) It's also happening every time I run a chkdsk.

Any help is appreciated!

Your mini-dumps are pointing to the driver: iaStor.sys which is your Intel Storage driver, the driver is from 2010 so you'll need to update this to the latest Windows 8 64bit version: Driver Reference Table

I've found quite a few drivers/programs that need updating to the latest Windows 8 64bit versions or removing/un-installing if un-needed:

PxHlpa64.sys - Sonic CD/DVD driver (used by many different CD/DVD programs): Driver Reference Table
stdcfltn.sys - Disk Class Filter Driver for Accelerometer by ST MicroElectronics: Driver Reference Table
Accelern.sys - ST MicroElectronics Accelerometer: Driver Reference Table
speedfan.sys - Speedfan: Driver Reference Table
EMSC.SYS - Embedded System Control: Driver Reference Table
SCDEmu.SYS - PowerISO Virtual Drive driver: Driver Reference Table
SynTP.sys - Synaptic Touch Pad Driver: Driver Reference Table
CtClsFlt.sys - Creative Camera Class Upper Filter Driver: Driver Reference Table
HECIx64.sys - Intel Management Engine Interface: Driver Reference Table
IntcDAud.sys - Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD Driver: Driver Reference Table
RTKVHD64.sys - Realtek High Definition Audio Function Driver: Driver Reference Table
hcmon.sys - VMware USB monitor: Driver Reference Table
vstor2-mntapi10-shared.sys - VMware Virtual Storage Volume Driver: Driver Reference Table

You should update as much as you can to the latest drivers for your system from the manufacturers website. It doesn't appear that your system has Windows 8 64bit drivers yet but try and use the latest Windows 7 64bit drivers instead. Update your Chipset, Intel Serial ATA, Intel Video drivers:

Drivers & Downloads | Dell United States

Your BIOS version is listed as A05 but the latest is A08 this update is classed as "urgent" on the above site however I would only do this as a last resort. If you do decide to do update this please follow all manufacturers precautions since any error could result in your system becoming inoperable.

Please make sure you have all the Windows 8 Updates until you can install no more if you have not done so already.

milw0rm,

I did actually update all my intel drivers while I was waiting for a response and I haven't had a BSOD since. Could be luck or maybe it's fixed ;)

I appreciate your detailed list though. It is very helpful. A lot of that stuff I will remove or update. Thank you again!

Hi milw0rm, I had another crash. Going to update/remove all mention + upgrade BIOS and let you know.

Another note of concern, when my computer rebooted after the crash it said: no bootable device found in POST. I had to cold boot it in order to get Windows to load.

OK. It seems to only crash when my computer is idle and always comes back with the "no bootable device found" and I have to turn it off and back on.

here is the latest memory dump:

Sorry to hear you're still having problems. Having looked at your mini-dumps they are still pointing towards the driver: iaStor.sys which according to your mini-dumps is still from 2010.

It appears you can install the latest Windows 8 compatible versions here (iata_enu.exe):

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...eng&OSVersion=Windows 8*&DownloadType=Drivers

Having looked through your drivers again, most of the ones I have told you about above appear to still be present and out-of-date.

Please go through each one and remove/un-install if un-needed or update to the latest versions possible.

If you're having trouble with updating the drivers you can try a tool called "Driver Identifier":

Driver Identifier - The largest driver collection for all laptops & desktops.

Simply run this tool and it will try and identify any driver that can be updated. It will then open your default browser and list drivers you can download to update the drivers on your system. When downloading a driver it may ask you to pay to download it, if you can't pay select "sorry, I don't have the money right now" and you will get a days trial free.

If this doesn't help and you're NOT on a RAID then maybe you should consider going into the folder: c:\windows\system32\drivers and renaming the file iaStor.sys to iaStor.bak. Reboot your PC to see if that helps.

If none of this helps then consider doing some hard-drive and memory diagnostics. Please see this article for more information:

Memory Diagnostics

If there are hardware problems this is out of my expertise maybe usasma or someone else could advise you further.
