[SOLVED] BSOD caused by rdboost.sys, but RAM seems OK
Hi all,
I have some crashes upon booting Win8. This actually always happens right after the boot process is done, right before the lock screen. Upon automatic reboot the system always works as expected.
As you will be able to see in the Minidumps the error is almost always caused by rdyboost.sys.
I just recently installed some new RAM (32GB instead of 16GB) and upgraded to Win8 from Win7. In Win7 I had no problems whatsoever.
I also ran a full test with Memtest86+ and it found no errors, so I am assuming the RAM is alright. I also tried to update all drivers to the latest versions from Dell (Dell M4600 Notebook), but I guess Dell doesn't always provide the latest versions.
I just don't know what I should do - one thing I think which might help is having a clean install of Windows 8 without all the stuff (drivers, registry etc.) from Win7. Anyone has any other suggestion what might be the cause of the problem?
Cheers,
moontear

EDIT: Reinstallation of fresh Windows 8 solved the problem
