I started getting a blue screen yesterday when I switch on my Windows 8 Pro PC with error Driver_Verifier_Detected_Violation. I did not install anything new nor did any changes to my PC the last time I used it.
After the system restart itself, it prompted me to do a refresh so as not to lose any files. I did a refresh and was able to login though it was not my original login picture. After logged in, I realise everything looks new and all my files were gone, including programs, apps, etc.
I browse through my C drive and saw a Window.old file. I searched within the file, can’t find any folder in <User> and any of my files (documents, photos, music, etc) are missing.
Unfortunately, I do not have any backup and unable to engage a data recovery company as it will cost me over $2,000, after getting 2 quotes.
Has anyone experienced this + any advices will be much appreciated. Thank you.
