BSOD Crash on Power Saving

First of all, found this forum in google search and I have to say: great job, great forum!

Problem:
Recurring BSOD at/while/after power saving mode (closing the lid of the Device). Happend with and without being connected to the power source. I'm not seeing the the BSOD, therefore I cannot exactly determine the time it happens. Might be on closing, might be some time in between, might be on opening the lid (never saw the BSOD screen).

On opening the lid again, I'll have to boot up the device and Windows show the error message and asks me to send details.

Occurance:
Never happend on "short" sleeps with less than a few minutes. Happening sometimes at longer sleeps (> 20min.). Workaround: Shut down instead of sleep/power-saving mode.

Device:
Samsung Series 7 Chronos with i7 CPU, 8 GB Ram, NVIDIA GT 640m, HDD + small SSD for ExpressCache (Samsung default), all Drivers up to date, Windows 8 Pro 64bit, BIOS up to date, Software up to date (according to Samsung SW Update Software).

May be of interest/suspects:
- Samsung ExpressCache uses the internal small SSD to speed up the start of applications.
- Samsung Battery Life Extender may be on or off / not correlated to BSOD
- As one dump mentions intel software, there may be a problem with that software
- USB(3) mentioned in one dump

Ingnore:
Please ignore the dump related to aswnet.sys, this is AVAST which I tried for the third time on my laptop. I feel it's very buggy on Win8, therefore I uninstalled it again. (anyone recommending an antivirus for Win8?)

Unfortunately it did not resolve my problem.

This time, i did not see a BSOD screen (as usual), after opening the lid i saw a black screen for about 20 seconds, then the device booted up (quite slowly).

Currently i'm updating NVIDIA drivers to version 310.90 (Received update notification while writing this ;-) )

Latest grab all SF attached. Thanks for any help.

Some more thoughts:

- the laptop may crash on unplugging it while the lid is closed
- it may be a problem with HDD shutting down, according to power saving options

Any help?

There are a couple of things you can try.

First try changing the hard disk sleep time to a high number so it won't ever sleep.
Control Panel > Power Options > Change When the Computer Sleeps > Change Advanced Power Settings >
Expand 'Hard disk', then 'Turn off hard disk after', change time to sleep.

If the above doesn't work, sleep crashes possibly can be stopped by disabling Hybrid Sleep.
Control Panel > Power Options > Change When the Computer Sleeps > Change Advanced Power Settings >
Expand 'Sleep', then 'Allow hybrid sleep', click on 'Setting' and change to 'Off'.
Some systems are known to crash when this is turned on.

Laptops with your specs are known to have overheating issues.
Use Real Temp , to check the CPU temps when at idle, under load and/or testing.
Let us know the minimum and maximum temps you get.

Just had a crash a few minutes ago.

This time I plugged in the power cable and pressed to power button. The Samsung Logo appeared, everything went dark for about 1 minute, then BSOD Screen with sad smiley. The acpi-thing is new in the crash report. Maybe an indicator?

New dump files and so on attached.

edit: Installed Intel Graphics driver v. 9.17.10.2932 after writing this post.

A driver is in an inconsistent or invalid power state. Typically occurs during events that involve power state transitions, such as shutting down, or moving into or out of standby or hibernate mode.

Let's see if SFC will re-install the ACPI driver.
Run the System File Checker:
How to Run the "SFC /SCANNOW" Command at Boot or in Windows 8
Run it 3 times with re-boots.

Have you updated your drivers from the Samsung Support site?
Check your Device Manager for any '?' or device drivers not loaded.

Can you translate these?

Prev dump files are not available any longer. I'm always clicking 'grab all'. I might have deleted them when using ccleaner. However I will avoid this until the problem is solved.

Driver Verifier is not enabled.

I'm currently running Option two of the above mentioned sfc /scannow and will report the results.

Thank you for your great help!

edit: one more thing. In the reliability report/history (?) in the Windows Action Center I noticed that the bluetooth device manager stopped working several times.

So here we go, did not find the time until now, sry.

Have you updated your drivers from the Samsung Support site?
AFAIK Samsung does not provide any W8 driver. However there is the tool SW Update Tool. Everything up to date. Also installed Samsung Update Plus and tried the BIOS Updater. Current BIOS (UEFI): P04ABJ. Moreover all intel components are up to date, according to the online java updater from intel.

See:

Check your Device Manager for any '?' or device drivers not loaded.
All devices installed correctly, no ? in Device Manager. Disabled Bluetooth manually.
