    BSOD (?) while playing

Hello everybody, I think I'm suffering several BSOD while playing the game Kingdoms of Amalur. I say "I think" because I cannot see the blue screen, the system freezes while remaining on the game along with a bad noise coming from the speakers, I can just push the reset button and on the restart windows creates anyway the dump file.

This never happened during the first 10-11 hours of my playthrough but since yesterday these "bsod" have become regular and there is no way I can play normally. Game causes bsod randomly while exploring/fighting, at first I thought that maybe the fault was of a particular bugged area but now bsod happens also in different areas. (I also note that no bsod happened while navigating menu or while saving/loading). Temperatures on GPU (Nvidia GeForce 460 GTX) are not particularly high and I'm using the latest forceware 310.70. Hardware drivers are all updated. I gave a look at the minidump file and the issue seems to be related to ntoskrnl.exe, but I really don't know what's happening. Thanks for help.

    Win8.1Pro - Finally!!!

BIOS dates from 2008. Check to see if updates are available. Be very, very careful if you choose to update your BIOS. A mistake while flashing can damage the motherboard.

Win7 didn't like USB wireless network adapters - I suspect the same is true for Win8. Here's my rant on these devices:
I do not recommend using wireless USB devices. Especially in Win7/Win8 systems.
These wireless USB devices have many issues with Win7(and I suspect with Win8) - using Vista drivers with them is almost sure to cause a BSOD.
Should you want to keep using these devices, be sure to have Win7/Win8 drivers - DO NOT use Vista drivers!!!
An installable wireless PCI/PCIe card that's plugged into your motherboard is much more robust, reliable, and powerful.
There is a problem with a PS2 keyboard. If using a USB keyboard it should be safe to ignore this error.

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Win7 systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions). I strongly suspect that this hold true for Win8 systems also.
Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): [S] DuplexSecure - FAQ [/S] Link broken as of 21 Jul 2012
New link (15 Aug 2012): DuplexSecure - Downloads (pick the appropriate version for your system and select "Un-install" when you run it).
    Alternate link: Disc-Tools.com
Manual procedure here: Registry and SPTD problems | DAEMON Pro Help
MSI Afterburner (along with Riva Tuner and EVGA Precision) is known to cause BSOD's in some systems. Please uninstall it immediately. If overclocking, please stop while we troubleshoot. Feel free to resume the overclock once the BSOD's have stopped.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Update this one to the 2012 version:
    iaStorV.sys Mon Apr 11 14:48:16 2011 (4DA34CF0)
Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver (base) (now is the Rapid Storage Technology (RST) driver)
    http://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=iaStorV.sys

Remove this one using the directions above:
    sptd.sys Sat Aug 18 17:05:38 2012 (503003A2)
SCSI Pass Through Direct Host - Daemon Tools (known BSOD issues with Win7)
    http://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=sptd.sys

If these things don't stop the BSOD's, then please run these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics

After some days of testing here is my report:

    - BIOS updated
    - Daemon Tools and MSI Afterburner unistalled
    - Intel Matrix Storage updated
    - SCSI Pass Through Direct Host unistalled with the free tool
    - Game reinstalled

I've played for another 1 hour without problems but BSOD happened again.
At this point I've done a MEMTEST outside windows, it did 7 passes in 6 hours with 0 errors.
I runned a tool for the Hard Drives and all went well, I've done also a CHKDSK.

After these tests I decided to go back to Windows 7 PRO x64, had some problems with this format for a malfunction on my DVD reader that died suddenly, so I removed it.
Back in Win7 I've installed with caution all drivers and tried again to play that game. Played 2 hours without problems.
I thought that the BSOD problem was solved with the OS change because I was able to play also World of Warcraft for 2-3 hours.
I installed another game, Torchlight II, and played it 17 hours without a single problem before the BSOD came back, 2 times. I used Bluescreenview to analyze the DUMP and the BSOD is always the same (0x00000124).

I don't think it is a problem regarding the wireless network adapter because I used it for almost 2 years without problem.
Should i try a Prime95 test for CPU ? And it would be useful to run Memtest with a single RAM stick ? (I use 2 sticks of 2GB)

edit: I've just uploaded the new dump
