Yes it does say that. But that is a Windows driver - and Windows drivers are protected by the System File Checker and are the least likely thing to be wrong with your system.

The most likely reason for this is a 3rd party driver
The next most likely is a hardware problem
The next (and least) likely is a Windows problem.

Since the DXGMMS1.SYS driver is cited, I would start with wondering about video-related problems, but please realize that just because something is blamed, it doesn't necessarily mean that it's the cause.

Consider this scenario:
- Driver A does something illegal to Driver B's memory space
- then Driver A exits (leaving no trace of itself behind)
- later on Driver B goes looking in that memory space and finds the illegal stuff
- that causes Driver B to crash
- the dump file will blame Driver B because that's where the crash occurred
Since there's no trace of Driver A, there won't even be any evidence of it in the crash dump.

So what we do is (in this order):
- rule out 3rd party drivers based on our tools and experience.
- then we rule out hardware using various diagnostic tests
- then we rule out Windows by a couple of tests, and then ask you to wipe the hard drive and reinstall Windows.

At least 90% of the problems that I see are 3rd party driver related, with nearly all of the rest being hardware. It is rare to see a Windows caused BSOD and mostly we find that the system has been restored by the user, so we presume that it was a Windows fault.

I suspect that the problem lies with one of these 3 devices (for starters):

I've not installed any 3rd party drivers as I've installed windows 7 drivers for mobile chipset 4 (no windows 8 drivers will be supported)<-- think that may be why.

So what hardware tests could I run?
And what windows test could I run?

Those drivers in my previous post are 3rd party drivers. They're most likely outdated because the manufacturer's haven't updated the version available through Windows Update.

Drivers (even 3rd party drivers) are available from several sources.
Additionally, they may be modified by other manufacturer's (such as computer builders) in order to provide functions that are needed for that particular model.

So, you can get drivers (to include 3rd party drivers) from:
- the device/program manufacturer
- the computer manufacturer
- Microsoft/Windows Update

Finally, we work BSOD's by fixing possible 3rd party issues first. We haven't finished that with your system yet. Please let us know when you complete the steps in my first post (post #2 in this topic).

I have no reason to suspect a hardware problem - but that doesn't mean that there isn't one. Just don't be surprised if the hardware test don't come out as expected.
