New BSOD

    hello topgun,
I found the log file and could open it. But the log file is big, and it shows many corrupted files. Too many.
I will now play back an image of my SSD from a time when all still looked OK. Then follow the werfault advice and run sfc.
I did not have any BSOD for a few hours now after following werfault advice. So maybe going back to an older image with hopefully no corrupt system files and disabling werfault will do the trick.

    hello topgun
I restored to an earlier image. Everything looks OK but when I run sfc /scannow, there are still errors reported which cannot be repaired.
What shall I do now? Is it OK like that even with unrepaired errors or will that over time lead to BSOD crashes?
I can restore to another image, which I made immediately after a clean install of Windows 8 without installation of additional software. Would restoring to that image and take it from there be better?
Or would you recommend a complete fresh install (I am a bit hesitant as it is more complex for me).
    Thanks for the help.

    Hi,
No, it's not OK. It should be fixed or else you might have another BSOD in the future.
Since it cannot repair the corrupted system files, that means these files are being used & locked by some other processes currently running in the background.

We can try one more thing before you decide to restore to previous image.

    1. WIN+X and select Run then type: msconfig
    2. Select Boot TAB and put a tick on Safe boot then click Apply, OK

Restart your PC when prompted. This will boot Windows with minimum configuration and hopefully those corrupted system files are not being used & locked. Don't worry if your screen looks big and your internet is not working etc....

Open command prompt and run sfc again. If succeeded, then run msconfig again, untick the Safe Boot and reboot Windows.

If the sfc still can`t repair those files in safe mode,

    Then you have to either
    Refresh Windows 8

    or

    Reset Windows 8

He already have a backup image from a fresh install so it's not a problem.

Good point and it's nothing wrong with your suggestion but I also read that a lot of people are having problem to do a refresh or Reset.

    Ok.

Let us see if sfc scan(safe mode) will fix the errors or not.

Reset/Refresh/clean install should be the last option

    hello topgun, bagavan,
Thanks for the help. I did the safe boot but sfc still said it could nor repair certain errors.
As topgun said that it has to be repaired, otherwise I can expect problems in future, I am ready now for a clean install.
I was reading the tutorials about clean install, however there was one thing I was not clear about and I posted that question in following post:
    Loading sata drivers during setup

Can you please have a look at that question and let me know if I always should preload drivers, or only if the drive is not recognized.

Yes, you can take Bagavan's advice or you could start it fresh with installation media. After you install a fresh copy, run windows update then run sfc again before to make an image backup.
