Windows 8 BSOD Civ5 and other games

I recently purchased a new laptop Y500 (preloaded with Windows 8) as a mid level gaming laptop. Unfortunately, when I try to play any more recent games (specifically Civilization 5) I get the BSOD most of the time I try to start a game or load a game, and at random times.

I have already run the SF Diagnostic Tool and have uploaded the zipped results. Please let me know if there is any additional information I can provide that would help diagnose the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

You only have 5 Windows Updates, please visit Windows Update and get all available updates (it may take repeated trips there).

Lot's of STOP 0x124 errors in the WER section of MSINFO32. This usually points to either low-level driver problems, or to hardware problems.

In particular, this driver is awfully old to be in a Win8 system (but it may still be compatible - you'll have to check that with Lenovo):

Attempt to update the above driver and see if that helps.

If not, then try these free diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics
Please run the CPU stress tests and Prime95 in particular, as there seems to be a CPU cache error here (not necessarily the CPU, but possibly).
Since it's a new system, you may want to consider returning it for another system (or a repair under warranty).
