Hi, I'm new here. I have a HP Pavillion Tower PC. I just got it repaired and cleaned up. 2 new RAM boards and New Windows 8. I think I got it back on around 12/4/12. Everything ok. Bought a "Windows 8 for Dummies" Book too. I was turning PC off properly, thru Windows 8 "Shut down". Then, just the other day I was using PC, and all of a sudden a multi shade purple to pink pattern filled up the screen. Then nothing worked. Keyboard locked out. ESC key not work, no key did anything. So had no choice but to turn off PC improperly by pushing the button on the PC itself. Then, ever since, it all of a sudden freezes up or screen goes black or it turns off or screen shows big message of "Your PC has a problem. We will restart your PC..............blah blah blah.. then DPC_WATCHDOG-VIOLATION under all that. Then screen goes blank, PC shuts off, and it never restarts. Then I try to restart it, it doesn't work. I unplug it and let it sit for awhile, then plug it in again. It takes me 30-60 mins and several tries to get it back on and up. Then a few times, I just get Desktop up, and it freezes, goes black, and shuts down. I look at "details" but all it says is something about PC and minidump, etc. Of course I don't know what any of this means, but I know that is not working right so it "dumps" it into a file, then shuts down. But sometimes everything fine for hours. Like right now, everything fine. Seems to do ok, when I Run a Norton Securtiy Suite Scan, eventhough I had just done one.
I looked at a few of similar Threads on this topic, and YOUR answer. But I have no idea what you are talking about or doing. What is BSOD and SSD??? I do not know all this Technical jargon or what all these files are, etc.. I've tried to find anything "weird" on here, but I have yet to learn how to find my system stuff. I have one strange ICON in the lower left of Desktop that says "OJ460_1315", I had tried to open it, but PC froze and shut down. I don't really have anything on here. I've been using Explorer 10, sometimes it has shut down. I've been using Firefox. I downloaded latest Adobe Flash and Java and Yahoo Messenger. That's about all I have,............I think.
So unless something "bad" got in my PC, or did I do damage??? Should I reload Windows 8 Disk?

Thank you
