Bsod driver power state failure

Hello All,
I have been attempting to fix a win8 64bit issue on my dell xps600 for two weeks without success. I started the install with a clean install of win8 64bit and found that the BSOD started immediately. I have discovered that restarting the machine works fine and fast without any BSOD. However I get the BSOD when turning on the computer after shut down. I have nothing in device manager that is showing a problem and I've checked all but a few drivers that are old.

Try to update the driver from Creative Worldwide Support.

A search revealed that you are using nForce as the chipset driver, and that includes nvstor.sys as the storage controller driver. You need to try to update nForce, as it contains not only the storage controller, but also network controller and a lot of other vital drivers.

Go to Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers, search for nForce, as per your motherboard's chipset specifications.

Let us know the results.

Edit ... I am seeing that the BIOS is very old.

The bios is the latest from Dell.
I updated the Sound Card driver to one that is beta for windows 8 from Creative, but it doesn't seem to have updated the version of the driver. It still says its from 2011.

on the nforce issue for the nvstor64.sys file, I've not been able to find the correct driver to upload from them.

Steve, it it continue to crash, you may need to change the board ... as the chipset drivers or BIOS updates are not available for such an old board. I hope it is an upgrade install, and not an OEM.

Edit, a suggestion by usasma : Please follow the Hard Drive Diagnostic Procedure, because storage driver issues can be caused by physical disk problems.

Arc the machine was working fine with windows xp, just thought I would give windows 8 a try. seems i may go back if I can't get it to work.

Its fast and works fine except for the hard start when i turn it on. Seems like it should be a minor issue but I just can't nail it down.

Also, Dell has 64 bit drivers for XP and Vista. Which do you think would be the best choice for windows 8. I'll try them both before I give up.

Probably neither of XP and Vista drivers will work... but you may try the vista drivers.
