Hey Guys, this is my first post on this forum, but I want you guys to know I'm VERY knowledgeable when it comes to computers.
The Situation:
I installed windows 8 a while back, & it was perfect I liked it MUCH better than 7, because it gave me better performance. Then about seven days ago, I restarted and went to Windows XP (Dualboot). Little did I know that XP had a disk check scheduled. I accidentally allowed it to check the windows 8 hard drive. At first I didn't notice any problems then, outta' nowhere, windows starts freezing randomly. I figured it was because of the windows xp check disk running on the new windows 8 ntfs. So I ran a windows 8 check disk, & it froze at 28%, so I hard reset. I thought I was probably screwed, & sure enough windows would not boot, instead it would invoke a bsod with code 0x21a. So the FIRST thing I did was use recovery environment to completely backup the windows 8 drive. Then I formatted the old drive, & moved the windows 8 install to another drive I have. Then I tried booting windows off the new drive, only to get the same result. So again, I went into the recovery environment, & discovered that the incomplete checkdisk had some how corrupted my system32\config\ folder (system/software registry's , etc.) So I restored the files using the "System Volume Information" folder to manually get the registry restore points. That worked, and it seemed that windows had stopped freezing too. But, now it has started freezing again. It's not due to any corruption of the files, because sfc verified everything as good. So I checked the event logs, & they're the same before and after the hdd migration. They list some drivers, but they all appear to be system drivers, & not third party. So I'm thinking about replacing those files with the ones from a fresh install on another hdd, but I wanted to post my dump with a DETAILED account of what I've tried to resolve it.
Dump:
For now I'm just posting a decoded minidump, as they are all identical.
Side Notes:
This does not happen on my other Operating Systems, I have Windows 8 x64, 7x64, & XP.
System:
Motherboard: MSI G41M-P26
CPU: Intel Q6600 Kentsfield @ 2.4GHz
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6570
RAM: Can't remember.
Someone please advise me as to what I should do about this. (DO NOT recommend a fresh install)
