Hi all,

Last night I experienced multiple BSOD errors when running CS:GO and Hitman Absolution. It has also happened at the desktop and when in Firefox, so there appears to be no pattern to these errors. I left Windows Memory Diagnostic running overnight and this is what the report came back with:

I believe this means that I have a RAM fault, however I would be extremely grateful if somebody with more technical knowledge than myself could get back to me about what this error means. Apologies in advance if everything that you require to analysis my problem is not in this post, just reply with what you need and I'll try and answer your questions.

Thanks!!

Sorry, but I can't make heads nor tails out of the error report.
FWIW - I don't use the Windows Memory Diagnostics myself. I prefer this diagnostic procedure: Memory Diagnostics

BUT, most BSOD's have some memory involvement, so it's not necessarily that the memory is to blame (for example, it can be a driver trying to access memory that it's not allowed to access)

Please provide this info so we can try to figure out what the exact issue is here: https://www.eightforums.com/bsod-cr...e-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html

Quick update - having run Memtest86+ last night, I can confirm that there were no reported errors. The RAM passed 5 tests overnight before I stopped it this morning.

Does this therefore point to a drivers issue as the cause of the various BSODs?

Rarely do we get BSOD's that point directly at a driver.
And, even if they do, it's always possible that there's a hardware problem with that device.
Also, there's several kinds of memory in a system (RAM, chipset (memory controller), CPU cache, video RAM, etc)
And most memory errors are memory access errors - so they can be software errors also (such as driver corruptions).

Running multiple memory dumps (4, 5, or more) usually is a better indicator of the problems.

But even then, not all problems show up in the memory dumps (for example, if a driver corrupts another driver's memory space - and then exits before the other driver checks that space - there won't be any evidence of the first driver when then second driver crashes (on trying to use it's corrupted memory space).

That's why we use the reports to look for hints of trouble and known trouble drivers - it increases the success rate of our troubleshooting dramatically!

We've seen a number of BSOD issues with SSD's. Here's the information that I've compiled so far:
There's not a whole bunch available to test SSD's. The "easiest" test is to remove the SSD, install a platter-based hard drive, install Windows and test for stability that way.

Here's some suggestions:
- Update the SSD's firmware to the latest available version (VERY IMPORTANT!!!)
- Update the motherboard controllers drivers to the latest available version from the controller manufacturer (NOT the mobo manufacturer unless you can't find any on the controller manufacturer's website)
- Slow the memory (RAM) down to the next slower speed (I've only seen one person who claimed that this worked for them).
- Use any manufacturer's utilities that you may have. If you don't have any, then try this free one (I haven't used it myself): Crystal Dew World
- Update chipset and storage controller drivers to the latest available from the manufacturer of the device (not the manufacturer of the motherboard). Be sure to update ALL controllers on the motherboard!
....NOTE: Recently (Nov 2011) we had BSOD issues with the Marvell 91xx controller and an SSD. You may have to switch controllers also.
- Replace the SSD with a platter based hard drive and see if that stops the BSOD's. If it does, then it's likely that there's a problem with the SSD OR an incompatibility with your system.
It's my opinion that SSD's aren't reliable enough (with current hardware) to be used on a system that needs to work reliably. Until I see reliability I will not recommend, nor will I use, SSD's for critical applications.
06 Dec 2011 - This post tends to confirm issues with certain SSD chipsets and certain controllers - [SOLVED] cant find the cause of BSOD F4 - Tech Support Forum
29 May 2012 - The frequency of BSOD's with SSD's seems to have been decreasing over the last several months. It may be approaching time to re-evaluate my stand on their suitability for use in production systems.
10 Nov 2012 - I'm seeing an upswing in SSD errors - but most appear due to older storage controller drivers. I strongly suggest NOT using storage controller drivers that don't date from 2012 (if none are available, don't connect an SSD to that controller)

I'm not familiar with the Bullguard protection software, but if this is an Internet Security app - it can cause memory access errors also. Try un-installing it to see if that helps (use a free antivirus while testing: Free AntiVirus )
It appears to have some components from BitDefender that are a bit outdated.

Your audio drivers also are older (dating from 2009). Please obtain Win8 compatible drivers and install them.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

After cleaning up my drivers, I had a successful few days without any BSODs, however I've just encountered one this evening. It also appears that my brother got one yesterday whilst on my PC. Any clues as to what caused the most recent crash? Thanks again for all of your help guys!

I notice that there's a lot of crashes in csgo.exe (Counter Strike: Global Offensive). Is the game fully updated? Is it a legitimate copy? Are there any other problems associated with the game?

1) Please uninstall the Bullguard Internet Security, get a free antivirus to test with ( Free AntiVirus ), and ensure that the Windows Firewall is turned back on. Please be sure to only have one antivirus and one firewall running at one time. The only 3rd party driver that I see in the raw stack output is NSKernel.sys - a component of the Bullguard Internet Security.

2) The Intel storage drivers date from 2011. For SSD's I strongly suggest using only storage drivers from 2012.
Please visit Intel Download Center to get the latest version of the Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST) drivers.
And, as long as you're there, also update the Intel Smart Connect Technology drivers and the Intel Management Engine drivers also.

3) Finally, the last possibility is that it might be a hardware-type problem. This behavior (hardware-type problems) also includes lower-level drivers (such as the Shield drivers in the Bullguard app), so it's not a 100% diagnostic tool. Please run these free diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics and let us know the results of the test.

4) Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :
