Hello everyone, this shall be my first post and so I hope I have followed the procedures correctly. Below I have attached the Dump ZIP folder as instructed and hopefully summarized in simplicity the problem I am having.

So I just recently bought this laptop to replace my older HP TM2-2050CA Touchsmart machine, as I am a HUG fan of 13/14 inch screen machines with lots of power, and the DVD drive in this one was a bonus to boot. Not only 2 days go by and already it has an improper shutdown. It bluescreened upon shutdown due to a Video Failure 0x00000117 Code, which I believe was caused by outdated drivers. That's all fine now, did some updates, problem solved. But a new bugcheck code has started to occur: 0x0000009F Driver Power state Failure.

Funny thing is this "Blue Screen" only appears to happen whenever I shutdown the machine, sometimes not at all, sometimes 3 times of shutting down and rebooting in an evening. I don't actually see the BSOD, but when the machine turns back on, Windows informs me my PC recovered from a problem, and wants to send a report.... blah blah. Everything works perfectly peachy as normal however.

Sorry for this post being so long, I have attached the logs below in a ZIP, and hope to find the answer to this problem...

Welcome :)

Did you check if it BSOD-s this way or during these occasions in safe mode?

Welcome :)

When I bought the laptop I performed a factory image recovery (as I always do) just to know myself what software gets updated the first time. The updates it performed were a BIOS update (yay!), graphics card (also yay!), Samsung Quick Launch, and then things like adobe and Java etc. I removed Norton stuff as usual too, so essentially it's a clean factory Samsung image, with only windows 8 updates, and the ones that come directly through Samsung's utility. Nothing else...

Have tried safe-mode, and it eliminates the problem, but then of course nothing that requires drivers works... No GFX card, some FN+HOTKEYS don't work, etc. ... kind of silly to have to resort to safe mode on a clean boot laptop...

Little Background on this one: I am the backup technician for the retail store I work at, and even the main technician and I putting our brains together can't wrap our heads around this one because of its' intermittent tendencies... It would be easy to pinpoint one driver, but so far, we can't seem to find what i causing it...

No memory dumps (in the upload) since 30 Nov - can you recall anything in particular that happened around that time?

The memory dumps blame athw8x.sys - a driver for your Atheros wireless card.
Please try uninstalling the wireless driver, then installing a fresh copy.
If this does not fix things, then it's either an incompatibility (not likely IMO because of the date of the driver and it's naming convention) or it's a problem with the wireless device (hardware problem).

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

OK well @usasma, I have not had another crash since I uninstalled all the Cyberlink DVD Software from my laptop. CLVirtualDrive.sys is gone as well because of the uninstall, so no need for updating. So far the only issue remaining is with wireless; it hasn't caused a bluescreen lately, but occasionally when I wake the laptop from sleep,I have no internet connection. Device manager andNetwork and Sharing both see the Atheros Wireless Card, but of course because Windows 8 uses its' metro style interface to connect to networks, it still refuses to acknowledge the presence of networks, or sometimes thinks airplane mode is always on.Not a big deal, but I'll let you know if anything changes.
