Windows wants me to restart evey time I log in

First, I thought it was for real, but after sometime I noticed it was always happening. It's got to be an error because I didn't make any updates and it happens EVERY TIME.

    The message is this:

You must restart your computer to apply these changes.
Before restarting, save any open files and close all programs.
    [Restart Now] [Restart Later]

    Can anyone help me, please?

    Hi Ricardo. Welcome to EightForums.

Updates are set to check, download, and install automatically by default. There are many at this point. I noticed it takes different sessions as well.

Check installed updates in Windows Update. Are they loading ok?

    Thanks for your answer.

It's definitely not that. Windows Update only installs when I want. I haven't made any changes and restarted my computer in case some old updates needed the restart. The same message appears.

    Any other suggestions?

Ok. Any knew OS release has glitches which stretches our patients at times. I'm thinking your system thinks it has to restart due updates. Why else would it do that? I dunno.

I'll assume you changed the settings to "download, but let me decide". I know it won't download optional updates by default. I've noticed in 8 that update downloads and installation is a scheduled thing now. Try setting back to default automation and reboot. You can always go back to your preferred settings.

If that doesn't fix it then try www.eightforums.com/showthread.php?t=3047. That's short of a refresh, which is a PITA.

Please let me know how it goes.

Do you have a wireless mouse? I am pretty sure that mine does it because I have a wireless mouse. It keeps reinstalling the drivers every time, I think. Because it does that sound that you get when you plug in new devices.

Still, it would be lovely to know how to fix it.

I do! That is exactly what's happening. When I connect the wireless mouse, the warning appears. When I don't, it doesn't.

Can anyone help us in this?

I have a MS wireless Arc mouse with no problems. What's yours? You could have wrong driver. Does your mouse driver look ok in Device Manager? Is there other setting software that comes with it?

I don't remember which model mine is. I'll have to look for the literature. I'm on my phone away from home.

It can't be too different. Center scroll/push wheel with the left side button. I've loaded 8 fresh installs dual boot three times now and a refresh that uninstalls or loses the driver. After installation it finds and is an optional update to install via Windows Update without a hitch. Never a problem.

I wonder if it's your USB port for the send/receive unit? The only other thing I can think of is that it can't uninstall the generic driver it installs upon installation. Which driver is installed for yours?
