    Windows 8

I've had the same problem, never thought of the wireless microsoft mouse.
I've checked and no new updates installed for the past two weeks. I've changed options from auto download and back again with no response. I've run check disk and scan disk several times but never thought of the mouse driver I'll have a play around with that and see if it fixes the issue (I also wonder now if its because the transceiver for the mouse is plugged into a USB 3 port). Anyway thanks for the tip

Welcome to EightForums, BillyBob. It's good to have you aboard.

Have you set updates for other hardware and software in Windows Update? I just loaded my Windows 8 Pro OEM System Builder edition. I set them to download and received the updated driver for the Arc mouse.

    Windows 8 Enterprise 64-bit

I've the same problem and itís the mouse driver thatís causing it.
I have two Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 4000, one at home and the other at work and I use the same laptop on both places. This message appears every time I switch the mouse, i.e. one time in the morning at work and the other time at the end of the day at home.
Installing or uninstalling the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center application doesnít prevent the annoying message.
This didnít happen under Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit, now I have Windows 8 Enterprise 64-bit.

    Is there any solution?

    Windows 8.1

Although this is an old thread, I have had the same problem as a new Windows 8.1 user. After a very frustrating complete reset of the laptop, and reinstalling all my software, which included Audials One, I found that this apparently is the cause. More specifically, Audials installs a virtual CD-Drive which, when I disabled it in msconfig, cleared the problem on the next restart. Apparently it is a known issue as it talks about it on their troubleshooting page: Driver setup fails

Personally, I uninstalled the program. I was very sad to do so as it has a lot of good features, but it is way too much of a resource hog, so I have resorted to alternatives.

Hope this may possible be of help to someone in the future.
