Hello and Thank you for the attention.

I just bought a computer and I got the DPC_watchdog_violation Blue screen.

I installed avast free antivirus, but I searched on the forums and I have already uninstalled it.
I want to know If I need to uninstall another program.

Thank you in advance and Greetings!

Sounds like a driver problem.

WHS is correct, it is a driver
Its your Avast. Uninstall and replace with the free Microsoft Security Essentials/Windows Defender, which is part of the OS
Use the free Malwarebytes for a weekly scan, for even more protection
If you have an avast firewall replace that with the Windows firewall

First of all sorry for my bad english. I didn't explain clearly the situation.

I got the Dpc_watchdog_violation blue screen. After that I did an investigation on this site
finding I needed to uninstall the third parties antivirus so I did, but also I got the
dump (following the forum format) file when I got the last blue screen with Avast antivirus
installed at that time.

I hope uninstalling Avast solves the problem, but with the dump I sent is there another issue in my computer?

Thanks and greetings!

Those dumps do not give answers, but only clues. The clues in yours point to Avast. Start with a system restore point so that you can go back if things dont work out.

Thank you for the answer, I will read about dumps because I don't understand a thing. Avast was my issue then.

Thank you for the help!

I just wanted to post here, that the DPC_watchdog_violation Blue screen doesn't appear anymore, I was the antivirus fault!

I've been getting the dreaded Windows blue screen too, losing documents and chats along the way. DPB_Watchdog_violation is a hugely vague problem, one site suggested it was a firmware problem with my hard drive, but I don't want to tamper with that, that could lead to more serious problems...I don't have Avast or other anti-virus software, just the standards Windows 8 anti-virus stuff.

I wonder if it's my Sata hard drive connections...those are the loosest, most flimsy cable connections I've ever seen in a PC, they wobble all over the place.

Thanks for your help everyone.

Cheers

Tim

Hi tjohn61, did you get the dumps? In forums shows you how to do that.

I hope your problem is solved asap.

Hi Woceyth, thanks for your response. I haven't had the problem recently, so fingers crossed the disk scan I did resolved the issue. If it happens again I'll do the dump and post it here. I really like Windows 8 but there is bound to be some teething problems. I still think the flimsy SATAII connection cables have something to do with it.

Best wishes,

Tim
