Chrome Constantly Crashes Computer

  1. #11

I do think I have installed the latest drivers, but I guess there might be more.

As for the new Chrome Beta, I'll install it and give it a try.

Well, after installing the Drivers, which have said they're up to date on my previous install, I just need to try Chrome. Apparently version 23.0.1271.64 m Is there a later version that I should try?

So, it has crashed once more with chrome. Is it advisable to just remove two of the RAM sticks, rather than muck about with MEMtests and such?
Should be much less hassle, right? I can go with 8GB of RAM, happily.

Ok, first, I don't recommend Chrome. It trashes systems. I have seen it too often.

2nd, if the system only crashes with Chrome use, this is not a RAM issue. and if it is, it s more likely Chrome causing the issue in Ram
There are only one good way to be sure that RAM is the issue. Test with a memory tester.

Win8 has a memory tester built in. Go to Charms bar and click search,, type in mdsched and click on it and follow directions.
You should test memory with 2 different programs,, the other would be MemTest.

Just removing ram is not going to tell you if the memory is bad or a slot.

If the tests pass, then you do not have ram issues.
If you get errors, you need to test individual sticks in individual slots to find out if it is the ram stick or the slot.

Again, if the system only crashes with Chrome use,, it is Chrome,, not ram.

It seems to be Chrome then, as the test proved nothing was wrong. What browser do you recommend? I am currently using Firefox, and it seems to be okay. Anything better? I dislike IE, as a lot of things are too small, and hard to see. (E.G. the time bar on Youtube)

Yes to Firefox. I would not recommend anything else myself. I use Firefox pretty exclusively, I still use IE for a lot of things.

After installing Firefox,, get the following add-ons....

    AdBlock Plus
    Adblock Plus Popup Add on

Those 3 at the very least.

You can also checkout Ghostery, however it can cause some sites to not function properly.
