Laptop restarts BSOD after sleep / hibernate in Windows 8 Pro 64bit

Hi,

I've just installed Windows 8 Pro 64bit edition on my Dell XPS L502X, overall the system runs ok but today i notice strange long restarts after waking up from sleep mode / hibernate and then it when back to the logon screen. Windows then will display a memory dump error.

Please help, could this be a driver issue?

I signed up now just to say that I have to same problem. Never had any issues with Windows 7 but now on 8 I can't hibernate my Dell XPS L502X. The only way to power down my machine is to select Shut Down but that means I have to close the session I'm working on - not always what I would prefer to do.

A quick google finds that this problem has been identified in the past, and a fix had been issued for prior versions of Windows:

[FIX] Computer Restarts Instead of Hibernate After Installing Service Pack 1 (SP1) in Windows 7 - Tweaking with Vishal

Is it possible that the windows 7 fix will still work for windows 8?

ETA: well I tried installing the update but it wouldn't allow me. I guess it's because I'm on Windows 8 now.

Fixed: update your BIOS at dell.com. The new A12 BIOS was released on 26/10.

(Not sure if this will help other people with the same issue who do not have the Dell XPS L502X)

hmm, i have tried updating the A12 bios from the Dell website and it didnt worked,

then i went on to choose 'refresh my pc without affecting my file' option,

after the process complete, my laptop is back to normal after waking up from sleep/hibernate, yay ! no more BSOD.

Thanks maza33 !
