BSOD when the PC has been in sleep mode

    Hi

I have installed a clean copy of Windows 8 x64 Pro today and I have found that each time the PC goes into sleep mode it will cause a BSOD when awakened and thus restart the machine.

I have included a copy of the dump files ceated by the tool SF_Diagnostic_Tool in the hope that will help.

    Thanks for any advice.

    Welcome
Lets try a bit of a test. Go into safe mode and see if the problem still happens.

I am hopeful that I might have found what the problem was and that is the machine was going into S4 (hibernation) sleep and having issues waking from it.
Since I have disable hibernation and now use just the S3 sleep function it seems to be fine, albeit I'm still testing that out.

I hadn't noted to disable that function as I did not think that it was enabled by default on a workstation type PC.

Im glad to see im not the only one with this issue. At first when i got windows 8 the first 4 or 5 hours were fine but now every time i wake the pc up it goes to the BSOD.

Also how exactly do you completely disable hibernation because i have all my settings set to sleep and hibernation isnt anywhere for me yet it still does it?
    Thanks

    @ fifasarajev

That was my issue as well -a sort of "secret" hibernation.! As it wasn't noted anywhere I assumed that it was off. I think it is so that Windows 8 resumes quicker from a sleep than when it uses S3...? Anyway...

    The sevenforums had the answer...

Hibernate - Enable or Disable - Windows 7 Forums

I just ran the cmd command as the admin and typed in...

    powercfg -h off

As I did that I noticed that the file (6gb in size for me) hiberfil.sys just disappeared from the root of the C drive, when I had it to show hidden system files.

Up to now it has worked and hopefully it will for you as well.

OMG thank you so much, that appears to have done the trick for me as well, so far i havent had the BSOD due that issue again.

Oh wait never mind it looks like i spoke too soon, i tested this about 15 times and it was fine then afterwards it came up again, hopefully theres a concrete solution soon.

    mmm

Have you done what I did and produced a set of logs for someone to take a look at...? There is a sticky on the first page of this section indicating how to do that.

It does seem to have worked fine for me as it has not happened since.
