    Outlook.com VS The rest

Hello to all my forum friends and other members

Well, I signed up for an outlook.com account yesterday, in fact my first ever Microsoft account in my life, LOL!!

I have used Gmail, Yahoo! mail and now outlook. Compared to the other mail providers, outlook is just an eye-candy. It was a love at first sight. It was (is) a buttery smooth using experience for me. Its clean, simplified and yet feature rich. Loving the UI

So, what do you guys think? Loving it too? Or is it a different story at your end?

Give your all precious vote!!! And let us know your reasons behind it too!!

    PS:
A small request, only vote and post your opinions after using outlook.com, kindly don't go by what the folks are saying and what tech magazines and sites are saying.
Thanks for voting and sharing your views!!

It's a solid webmail client, but nothing exceptional. I use it and it works fine, but it's got nothing crazy awesome. Also, gmail has more features, but I've had a hotmail account for long enough, so I'm not switching.

I use GMAIL... I've had it for years and love it. Oh and I use Thunderbird as my E-Mail client. They work great together.

Hi Arpan. Thanks for the thread. Seems like you are very excited about Outlook.com.

I signed up and have had a Live account (Live Plus at first) since Vista days if I remember correctly. What's it been? 11 or 12 years now? It has always been reliable and has always had some very nice features. I have one for personal use and one for business. Lately that has been added into my MS account. In fact, they have added all accounts within that one -> Live, MSDN, TechNet, SkyDrive, and the likes. I never did use it on the "social" part of it as they desperately tried to get users to do. It could have been bigger than FaceBook.

I'll surely be lQQking into this and then come back to vote.

Signed up for two Outlook.com accounts, both with the same user names so I can later ditch my Live account. Already switched over from @hotmail.com to @outlook.com. The main account will be switched over when I've decided on how much SkyDrive storage I need to pay for as I have a 25 amount grandfathered in for with Live. And of course, all the things I've signed up for with that account.

Overall, I bloody love using it! The UI is nothing like anything out there, the features I've come across makes things nicer to use. Fantastic job on Microsoft's behalf!

It's a web based email system. I don't find anything particularly impressive or lacking with it. I've already got my stuff setup with gmail, and I have my own domain name and Google apps setup....so I'm just staying there as there is nothing that compels me to make changes.

I understand what you are saying, pparks. Thanks for your response

I see you have voted Gmail. The question was, if you need a new mail account, what would you opt for. I didn't ask if you would switch to outlook.com. My point was that: If you are in need of a new mail account, you would most probably want to go with the best out there in the market, right? So, in that case, which mail provider is your most preferred choice?

BTW, have you tried out outlook.com?

If i had to do it from scratch, starting right now, I would stick with gmail. For $10 a year, I register my own domain name, and Google apps is free and I can have unique email addresses at my own @domain.com for myself, wife, kids, spam accounts, etc.

This also works great when you are evaluating software for business and they email you a demo. Some places won't sent to @gmail.com as it's a personal email and they intend their software for business. With my own domain name, @myownname.com....the businesses don't know that it's simply gmail and they go ahead and accept it as a valid email address.

Yes, I switched over my Live account (old @hotmail.com) to the new Outlook.com as soon as it was available.

    Haven't heard much about outlook.com.
I have around 6 emails account at windowslive, hotmail, gmail, yahoo, solonet (local), and company website provided by squirrelmail. I left MS outlook since I found my blackBerry acount is more aggressive in providing instant notification since 3 years ago.
Will take a closer look at outlook.com anytime sooner.
