default browser

I have a stand alone version of opera and since it's not installation
it wont show in the selection window, but it also since its windows 8 it wont let me browse

is there any other way i could "force" opera stand alone being default browser?

Try the Control Panel - Default Programs - Set your Default programs. Browse down the list and, if you can see Opera, set it as the default. Ok the window and out.

Ah, you mean it's a portable edition. As I understand you can't assign file associations to a portable application, no matter which one it is. foobar2000, for example, also doesn't offer this if you choose to install it as a portable application.
