Hi there
one improvement with IE on Metro is that IE10 on W2012 server takes you to the desktop and starts the desktop version of IE 10 -- the normal one -- not the hideous full screen thingy on the bog standard metro screen of W8 RP.

RDP (Remote desktop) also fine --the standard version that gives you all the options when connecting to a remote computer such as local disks, sound, background / desktop settings etc.

I don't have an issue launching metro stuff provided they aren't FULL SCREEN with no toolbars etc etc. If they launch as Classical windows applications then fine.

cheers

You can change that in the client OS to have pinned IE shortcuts on the Start Screen to open on the Desktop.

Hi there
I think you need to re-read the post -- this refers to IE on W2012 SERVER not W8.
There ISN'T an option to "Pin to Task bar" or even "Open file location" where you can create a short cut by "sending to desktop".

You can do this on IE on W8.

Try this on W2012 Server -- I can't see an option --maybe I've missed something but I'm usually quite careful with this stuff. (As I said again it's NOT a problem in Windows 8 but only W2012 server).

You can manually search for IEXPLORE.EXE and do it that way --but that's not the point of the post.

Cheers
