All browsers eat over 1GB of memory

I'm really getting sick of this crappola. Firefox, Chrome and IE all use massive amounts of memory when I'm on a graphics rich page. If I'm on a page with a lot of animated gifs, the amount of ram usage climbs (fast). Then the browser starts stuttering and will hardly scroll. Then they will usually freeze.

And what the blank is up with Chrome? 1 window open but in Task Manager it shows 9 instances of Chrome.

Any other Windows compatible browsers that don't eat so much memory that it makes me think I'm still using a Pentium 166?

    Any help/suggestions greatly appreciated.

Hilarious-Gifs / Funny n Hilarious GIF The longer I'm there, the amount of memory goes up. 20 tabs open? Perhaps with Firefox 30, not now.

Ok buddy.. So i'll leave these website up for 1 hour or more and I'll play a game and web browse.. lets see when it hits 1 gig of memory..

you obviously have a leak or a problem with your system..

i'll check back in later.. with the results!!

however, I will say gifs and websites that load up a lot like this do use memory..

Here's a real good example. 1 tab and on the page for 30 minutes.

Also try turning off your Kapersky internet virus software.. that's possible it's affecting something..

Why not just use Defender.. it's actually pretty good.. and always make a Macrium Image backup for those times you just want to go back to when your system worked good..

    Programs running:

    Firefox 43 (1 window open)
    Mailwasher Pro
    Thunderbird
    Malwarebytes Premium
    Kaspersky
    TrayCD
Windows Desktop Gadgets (killing it makes no difference).

This started a couple weeks ago. I posted a question at Mozilla https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1103002 and did what was suggested. It didn't help. When I uninstalled Firefox, I used Revo Uninstaller and removed all traces. The only thing I backed up were my bookmarks.

I paused protection (Kaspersky) and no change. I scanned with Spybot, AdwCleaner, Malwarebytes and all that was found were a couple tracking cookies.

And as I stated earlier, this involves all three browsers.

Hello all. New member here. I have had an issue with my PC since I "upgraded" to windows 8.1 earlier this year that is driving me batty. Unfortunately, I upgraded the hardware (motherboard, CPU, and RAM) at the same time, so I can't rule out a hardware issue completely. The issue stuck around...
I've been looking at the Surface Pro and other tablet/laptop convertible machines fitted with Win 8. The top-end models usually offer only flash memory in stead of a hard drive. The standard 128 GB flash memory available seems hopelessly inadequate for storing Win 8, a full range of programs and a...
After my new build froze up during boot up into Windows 8, I tried to run Windows 8's built-in Windows Memory Diagnostic, extended setting, but it got stuck at 21% of 1st pass (10% overall) after running it overnight (at least 12 hours). I had 4x4GB memory modules, and re-ran this test with only...
