    I.E keeps changinghttp://www.msn.com/en-au/?ocid=iehp

    Hi,

I have Windows 8.1 and have changed the home page to be nine.msn.com.

However each time I close IE and reopen, again I get the msn.com homepage , no matter what I do and try I cant seem to get rid of it.

I have used Norton Internet Security, Super AntiSpyware, Ad-Aware, SpyBot, all come back with no problem apart from cookies.

That link seems it cannot be changed, each time I press Apply and Ok to accept the new homepage, I keep getting my nine, msn. com disappearing and the above link is back again. 16 times already.

Anyone got a solution as to how I can resolve this apart from a clean or windows image backup install?

    I'm at my wits end.

    Thanks in advance

I have search a similar topic in this forum. I followed the advice given in that thread and none of that advice resolves my issue.

Does anyone have any suggestions or is this a case of "too hard basket"?

I'm not familiar with the website, however shouldn't it be Click image for larger version (no dot between nine and msn).

    I expect nine.msn.com resolves to msn.com because it isn't a valid subdomain of msn.com

    Hi ARC1020,

Yes, you are correct, I did realise the error in the address, I had corrected the spelling but still defaults back to standard msn.com

    Hello Bondy,

Do you have any toolbars or add-ons installed that may be setting your home page to this?

If you haven't already, you might see if using the method in the tutorial below to specify a IE home page that can't be changed may help.

    Hello Brink,
    Thanks for replying,
A good question, I'm not sure if I have any additional toolbars unless I have placed a tick in the box on something I've downloaded and installed.

My pc was working good and had no homepage issues until I installed a cracked version of Minitab v17.2.1 , that's when I noticed the homepage was changed and that msn.com too over. it still had the Microsoft address in the internet explorer homepage . I deleted that and changed it then pressed Apply and OK buttons, closed internet explorer and it reverted back to what it was previously.

Yes, I did read that Tutorial, I did follow it through but still no joy.

You might see if doing a system restore using a restore point dated before you did this may help.

    Hi Brink,

I could try a System Restore and see what happens. I've only just done a back up image 3 or 4 days ago. Hope there has been a system restore point created before things went pear shaped. I'll let you know how it went.

    Hi Brink,

I done a system restore, good and bad result, good result is the problem has been resolved. I have managed to successfully set the homepage as to what it was suppose to be , The bad result is the system restore took all of the software I installed, Easy enough to put back on but time consuming.

Currently trying to download all updates , unfortunately I don't have direct broadband connection, only wireless broadband...pain in the neck where I am.....instead of having the rectangular progression bar showing percentage of download amount, it goes from that to Preparing to install bar, like for 2 hours, nothing has downloaded or installed.

At least the original problem has been sorted.

Thanks for your help and advice.

    Cheers, Bondy99
