Did you obtain a copy of the msidcrl30.dll file (from Vista or Win7) & paste it in to the Windows8 System32 Folder. In Windows8 i took ownership of the Windows Mail Folder & replaced those files with the Vista Windows Mail files.

I'm having the same problem as phillbret68 (post 10). And like him I'm having no luck in getting Windows Mail to work on my new Windows 8 Toshiba. The problem seem to be that the system keeps saying the msidcrl30.dll is not there. regsvr32 will not register it. Any suggections and help would be greatly appreciated.

As an update to this thread since 8.1 was issued and for anyone's future reference. It appears that the format of the Windows Mail folder has changed in Windows 8.1 from that in Windows 8 although I can't be sure of that. All I know is, doing a recent new 8.1 installation, in addition to the Windows 7 Tutorial mentioned in post #11 above I had to replace the Windows Mail folder in Program Files with my Vista one in order get it all to work. Should anyone need the Vista version of the Windows Mail folder, I have stored both the x86 and x64 versions in my Cloud storage and you can PM me or post your email address here, munged of course to defeat spambots - xyz AT abc DOT com for instance. I will then give you the download link.

FYI the 7 Windows Calendar Tutorial works fine still for 7, 8 and 8.1 and I have also stored my Vista files, x86 & x64, that the tutorial asks for should anyone need those too.

I wont publish these links publicly because doing that could swamp the cloud servers and cause me to lose my account.
