IE11.09600.17842 (KB 305851)

I am running Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit when I view the home page that In set up the url is at the top which is how I like it but if I type another web url to go to another web page the url shows at the top but if I send that to my desktop icon and close the IE11 and click on the Desktop icon that I have create the url is at the bottom of the page.

How can I set IE11 by clicking on the icon appear at the top of the page?

Are you switching between Metro and Desktop to type the URLs ?

I use the Desktop layout that looks like it did in XP, I dislike Metro layout.

Please explain the above. It seems you have created an "e" icon in the taskbar and when that is clicked the url is at the bottom of the page ? If you could do a screen shot using the snipping tool it would help.

In the interim, try to reset IE. InternetOptions/Advanced/Reset

Use Snipping Tool to capture screen shots - Windows Help
