cannot open URL link in gmail application, windows 8.

whenever i try to open a URL link, i have received in my gmail app inbox (windows 8,1) this is exactly what it says: "there is not installed any apps that can open this type of link. (about)". and then it tells me to search for an app in the windows store, and i tried that but there is nothing to come after.
i hope some of you can help me solve this problem.

Hi Peter and welcome to Eight Forums,
Well that means that your PC has not set a default program for opening URL links.
What i suggest is: go to Control Panel and search for default programs then click on the first one that pops up then click set default programs( wait for it to load them) and then choose your default browser(chrome or IE or firefox) and then click set associations for programs and look for the one that you need wich is the URL.

well i did what you said, and i made internet explorer the default program for .url and google chrome for .com
but still it says the excact same thing.

Try to open URL's on the stock Mail app and see if it can open links.
