How To Disable Add-On Prompt For Flash Player

    Hi,
It seems as though the software developers @ Adobe are REALLY getting even more sophisticated, I'm running IE 11 on windows 8.1 pro edition 32-bit. I seemingly kept getting more and more ad's on web pages, some would even start playing automatically. I was really getting frustrated with this, so I went into the 'add-on' area of IE 11, I opened the 'all-add-ons' area, I found the shockwave flashplayer item, I right clicked on that item..I chose properties..I then clicked on the 'remove all sites' button. That fixed one issue, but now created another one..now when I visit page's that have content on them that requires the add-on I prevented from playing automatically, I receive a prompt at the bottom of the page that asks for permission to 'Allow' the 'Adobe Flash Player' add-on, I just 'X' it off..but I really feel as though there must be someway to prevent that prompt from appearing..has anyone else in here had the same issue ? Hopefully, I've performed a screen capture that shows the prompt I'm referring to.
    Thanks,
    David

There maybe a way to supress those ActiveX prompts in Internet Options > Security > Custom Level. However, instead of disabling Flash the way you've done it, you could just disable all ActiveX controls by turning on 'ActiveX Filtering' and then whitelist any sites you want to allow to play Flash content.

With ActiveX filtering, you won't get the yellow prompt box at the bottom of the window and the webpage will just think you don't have Flash installed. So some web pages may tell you that you need to install Flash to play some content, in which case you can whitelist them by clicking on the blue crossed out circle in the address bar and selecting 'Turn Off ActiveX Filtering", which will turn off ActiveX filtering for that site.

One thing to be wary of with ActiveX filtering is that it will block all ActiveX controls, so if for example you use Adobe Reader to view PDF's (instead of the PDF reader built into Windows by default) then the Adobe Reader ActiveX control will also be blocked and will need whitelisting on a per site basis as well. Also, if you are not the only user of the computer, others will need to know about ActiveX filtering otherwise they'll undoubtedly be trying to download and install Flash players thinking that it isn't installed...

@Davy49 - I share your frustration over auto play of ads on web pages.

Question - Would not disabling Flash have the same effect and enabling when desired, or does your method have advantages ?

    Hi All,
Thanks for your suggestion's, I just went into the addon area, this time I disabled the flash player, then I went back into the 'all addons' area and changed my previous selection back to allow all sites, at least I got rid of the annoying prompt box @ the bottom of the page.
