I recently replaced my Dell with Windows 7 with a new Dell laptop with Windows 8.1. I am taking online classes. I have noticed that both my wichita.edu and kumc.edu pages load slowly, including the opening pages, and any links (before or after password entered). Videos load slowly (not from other sites). I downloaded an Endnote program that typically takes 5-10 minutes to download. It took 2.5 hours this morning. I have found:
The same thing happens on Chrome, IE, and Firefox.
I did not have this issue before with my previous computer (windows 7)
I have an Ipad. Both sites load quickly on the Ipad.
The desktop computer I use at work loads both sites quickly.
I have called Dell, who had me return WIndows 8.1 to the original settings, no change.
I have cleaned the cache and flushed DNS cache, and emptied recyling bin, no change.
I have contacted microsoft windows, and have reset IE, no change.
I have contacted the tech help at the .edu sites, without assistance other than the above, no change.
I changed the preferred and alternate DNS server (due to a tip I read on this site), no change.
Microsoft wants to charge me to diagnose my new computer.
Other .edu sites (that I don't have a connected password with) load quickly.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
