How do you Automatically Maximize Desktop IE Windows?

I feel like a fool asking this, because it'll probably turn out that everyone knows the answer except me.

How do I set Internet Explorer so that whenever I open it the window will always be maximized?

I do NOT want it full-screen without any window, like a Metro app; I just want it in a maximized Desktop window.

Try this, Dragon. Open IE. If it isn't maximized, hold down CTRL while clicking on the Maximize button. Close IE. Open IE and it should open Maximized. If it doesn't work the first time, try it again.

No, that makes it full-screen so I can't see the menu bars at the top, or my taskbar, or anything. I want those things to remain visible at all times.

Just clicking the Maximize button alone does exactly what I want, but I have to do it again every time I open IE. I figure there must be some way to make that a "default" setting.

I don't think you can. I tried to find a way a while back, but was unable to find a solution.

Opening multiple browser windows, resizing them so they fill the screen, then closing them so that the window size is remembered is close, but it isn't maximised. Therefore the closest way is to set the Internet Explorer shortcut to open maximised as shown in the above post by David, however this only works when you're opening Internet Explorer via a shortcut link to iexplore.exe. If you open a protocol or file type that's set to open with Internet Explorer by default (such as a HTTP web address link, for example when you save a website link as a desktop shortcut) it's a bit hit and miss and will quite often open non-maximised. The same when you shift-click a link to open the link in a new window as well, it's hit and miss.

So if you find a way, please let me know because I'm also interested.

Yes, that's what my problem is (what ARC1020 said above). I use direct shortcut icons to particular websites, and those don't have the "Run Maximized" option available.

I'm sorry. to hear you guys have problems maximizing. My solution above (hold down CTRL while clicking Maximize button) has worked for me on desktops and laptops for many years and many Operating Systems starting with Windows 95. It works on any window (not just IE) that opens minimized in order to have it open next time maximized. I do remember times it took several tries for it to get the message. It has NEVER produced a Fullscreen for me. If I want Fullscreen, Dragon, I use F11 which has also been around since Windows 95 I believe.

Yes, and yet when I do Ctrl-Maximize it does the same thing as F11. Maybe its just a difference in versions or updates.

I found a way that seems to work. Instead of maximizing, I push all the edges of the window to the positions I want, and then create the shortcut.

Hi, When log in , just after loading "Metro" interface I try to press window key to go to "classic desktop" but until I start some application or even Control Panel it does not appear loaded.
Is there any way to disable Windows from automatically placing desktop icons on the start screen? Or is there a way to remove multiple icons at one time?
