I installed windows 8 yesterday. I m not able to register thru my hotmail account ( Mail option at Start ) or register in calender.I get a white screen and it remains there. So finally I registered as a local user. However i can log on to my mail from the browser.
While trying to understand the problem , I mistakenly disabled my administrator account ( from cmd prompt net user administrator /active: no)
Kindly help in making the administrator account active and the non integration of mail with the account.

To re-enable the Administrator account use:

net user administrator /active:yes

With regard to mail and calender, you should still be able to access these, even if you've logged in with a 'local' account, you'll just be asked to sign in with a Microsoft account when you do. If Logging in to Windows 8 with a Microsoft account or trying to access mail via the method described above fails, the first step is to check the Windows event logs for any related entries. Out of interest, can you install applications from the Store when signing in to Windows 8 with a Microsoft account or when using a Microsoft from within the Store?

when i try to give the command net user administrator /active:yes the error message that access is denied comes.

Did you run the command in an elevated (Administrative) command prompt?

With regard to mail and calender, I m not able to access these, logged in with a 'local' account, I m asked to sign in with a Microsoft account when I do this , a blank screen comes.

It may sound obvious, but the connection can take some time before displaying anything. Did you try leaving Metro application open for a time? If this doesn't work, as a test, I'd suggest creating an additional Microsoft account and then trying to log in with that.

I am not able to install applications from the store when signing in to with a microsoft account

The event actually relates to the Windows store application, which may be a related problem. From the message, Windows wasn't able to suspend - I assume you switched away from the store for a short time? - the application, which is the normal behaviour for Metro applications. If you open a couple of Metro applications, then switch to the desktop, do you see any more of these events>

regarding running the command in elevated command prompt, i have tried that but its just giving the error message access denied.
regarding mail and calender, i have waited for more than 1 hr , but nothing happened except getting the white screen.
I might be missing certain things in getting to elevated command prompt, though i have tried seeing all related help available on net. I created a short cut on my desk top with administrator command prompt but the access denied error is not going.
I m ready to delete or reload some software if required.
Kindly help

There are various ways to run an administrative command prompt, probably the easiest is, simply right click on cmd.exe and select run as Administrator. If, however, the command still fails to run, all things considered, it may be worth trying a Reset

However, before you do that, can you please check the event logs, specifically:

1. Open Event viewer
2. Open Applications and Services logs
3. Open Immersive-Shell
4. Open Microsoft-Windows-TWinUI/Operational log
5. Check for any errors and report.

Did you try running a reset after booting from your Windows 8 DVD? If that also fails, you should really consider reinstalling to a clean partition.
